A list of reported bugs will be maintained on eda.org. ****************************************************************************** PARSER VERSION NUMBER: 5.1.2 PLATFORM (SPARC, HP700, PC, etc.): PC OS AND VERSION: Windows 7 REPORTED BY: Joy Li and Yingxin Sun, Cadence Design Systems DATE: 29 Nov 2012 DESCRIPTION OF BUG: (Description expanded by Bob Ross, Teraspeed Consulting Group) When checking for combined non-monotonic I-V tables a Warning message can be generated if the voltages are not aligned even if the original summed tables are monotonic for aligned voltages. The Warning occurs due to linear interpolation of not aligned points in regions of curvature where the summed slope might be close to 0. Based on linear interpolation (assumed in the Specification and parser), the calculations are correct, but annoying. Quality guidelines suggest producing IBIS models with 0 Warnings. Automated IBIS model genration tools do not have a clean way to fix this problem. The mis-aligned voltage points can occur with different voltage steps, the reference voltage selection or both. A number of solutions have already been suggested: - Demote the Warning to a Caution message - Set a tolerance limit so that some of the minor non-monotonic behavior is ignored (e.g, 10 uA or a percentage of the full current range) - Use a spline fitting algorithm to interpolation - No change, but report the Warning non-monotonic value (or maximum value) - Document the limitation within the Warning message - Document this issue in the IBIS Quality Specification - Etc. All solutons have their advantages and disadvantages.
