====================================================================== IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/Editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-editorial/ ====================================================================== Attendees from May 31 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki, Ming Yan Mentor, a Siemens Company Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff* Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Mike LaBonte noted that the previous meeting, held on May 26, was an oficial meeting despite having only 3 participants. He will provide a set of minutes for that meeting (AR). Mike added that the May 19 meeting minutes were approved in the May 26 meeting. A BIRD186.3 draft was reviewed then. Mike and Bob Ross have met offline since then to take care of revisions. No further opens were raised. Bob reviewed draft 9b. Bob added uppercase and period characters back to the list of supported characters. Mike has tested the parser to show that text.text.ibs is not allowed. Directory name lengths are somewhat limited. Mike noted that .ami files may not behave similarly to .ibs files under the parser for the text.text.ibs rule. Mike noted that IBIS may be the only specificaiton known that limits filename cases to address OS compatibility. Arpad Muranyi asked about the expression "A line of the file may have at most...". Bob noted that IBIS is line-oriented, and that this statement was referring to the specific syntax of any particular line in an IBIS file. Bob noted that the rules in Section 3 apply to .pkg, .ibs, but not to .ami. Mike added that the Section 3.2 Syntax Rules section contains an incorrectly-limited statement about the rules applying to only .ibs files ("This section contains general syntax rules and guidelines for ASCII .ibs files" at the top of Section 3). Michael suggested a new statement covering what "IBIS File Types" are, but that there may be many exceptions for .ami. Bob noted that there are many potential file type references, including .SnP, parameter files, etc. Mike and Bob will scrub the list of IBIS "file types" (AR) Arpad asked about extention string in the name vs. in the file contents. Bob noted that most text has been properly aligned in the draft. Bob and Mike have scrubbed the document to use "file name" correctly. Randy Wolff noted a few typographical errors: the word "reside" occurs twice in a row in one location, for example. Mike spotted the mispelled word "columm". Many issues were corrected during the meeting. Bob will send out draft 9c, and the team will review it next time. Bob will miss the meeting, however. Mike moved to adjourn. Arpad seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned without objection.
