====================================================================== IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/Editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-editorial/ ====================================================================== Attendees from June 7 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki, Ming Yan Mentor, a Siemens Company Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff* Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Mike LaBonte moved to approve the May 31 meeting minutes; Randy Wolff seconded. No objections were raised. Minutes were approved. Randy moved to approve May 26 minutes; Arpad Muranyi seconded. No objections were raised. Minutes were approved. The following ARs were reviewed: - Mike will provide a set of minutes for the May 26 meeting (AR). DONE - Mike and Bob Ross will scrub the list of IBIS "file types" (AR) DONE Bob noted that the list of IBIS file types is part of Draft 9e. No further opens were raised. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike shared the latest draft (including a comparison of Draft 8 vs. Draft 9e). Some review has been done during the IBIS Quality Task Group. Mike will post a comparison document between 8 and 9e (AR). During the meeting, a minor issue with ".ami" splitting was noted in additional early paragraph leading Section 3. Michael asked about additional file types, such as .ts; these are addressed in a question from Bob elsewhere in the document. Arpad noted that we can ignore file types where they have their own specifications, in terms of extension and stem lengths. Some discussion of VHDL-AMS and Verilog-AMS files ensued. Mike noted that concern primarily relates to issues such as exceeding total file length. Mike will change all comments containing questions to "to be deleted" comments. Some discussion ensued about "plain text" vs. "ASCII" as a description of IBIS files. Arpad asked what the difference between them is. Mike responded that there are other encodings still called "plain text" (where some kind of application can show you content). Michael added that rules over file contents may not be the same as rules regarding file names. Bob pointed out that Item 3 in the Chapter 3 list of rules covers name characters; Item 14 covers contents. Mentions of "ASCII IBIS file types" will be changed to "IBIS file types". Mike noted that all instances of "dot" have been changed to "period". In response to a question about repeated text, Bob noted that four versions of the same essential material are included to cover External Circuit, External Model, and both sets of converter parameters. The final set of document changes were part of the rules for Executable Model Files and AMI Parameter Files. The text must be checked carefully to ensure that "reference" is always to an external file. Michael suggested the team review this BIRD and the Interconnect BIRD next week. Michael took the action item to scrub the Interconnect draft for consistency with the BIRD186 draft (AR). This will be Draft 1 of 189.4. A new BIRD will be issued by Bob and Mike as "draft 9f" or draft 9 for next week (AR). Bob suggested that the Interconnect draft only requires two changes: to use "stem" and to clean up the file reference language. Mike moved to adjourn. Arpad seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned without objection.
