====================================================================== IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.eda.org/ibis/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ====================================================================== Attendees from June 19 Meeting Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki* Mentor Graphics Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff* Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* No opens were raised. No patents were announced. Walter Katz noted that the phase the Task Group is engaged in is called “Comment Resolution” for the IEEE; each comment is assigned a number and then voted on. Michael Mirmak announced that Draft 3 of the IBIS 6.1 document has been posted and would be reviewed during the meeting. Walter noted that he had provided some changes via e-mail. Bob Ross also stated he had a list as well. The new draft includes BIRD175.3, BIRD176, and BIRD177. Michael added that the new Reserved Parameters in BIRD175.3 have not yet been added to the parameter tables in the AMI section. Mike LaBonte asked whether a new “Modulation” section might be needed, similar to Clock and Jitter parameters. Changes noted in the meeting include: • Change page 9 from “9 BIRDs” to “12 BIRDs”. (Randy Wolff) • Add [Initial Delay] to the hierarchy under [Submodel], after [Falling Waveform]. Add [Merged Pins] to [Define Package Model] and .pkg (Bob, Randy). • For [Initial Delay], use brackets for keywords when used as keywords (Michael) • Spacing issues under [Merged Pins] (Bob) • All the PAM4 parameters need Required/Optional “and illegal before…” language. • Extraneous bullets showed up in the PAM4 section (Mike, Walter) Randy noted that the page headers jump from left to right, book style. This appears deliberate. There was some discussion regarding Table 15 and “otherwise illegal” phrasing for Resistance Matrix. This was removed. Bob suggested that, for Section 10, we should refer to “AMI_Version 6.1”, not “IBIS 6.1”. Arpad asked whether this should this be “v6.1”. Mike suggested the document refer to “IBIS 6.1” per the rules for IBIS Version. Mike asked whether the document consistently has mid-keyword underscores removed and replaced with spaces. Michael noted that “SERDES” and “SerDes” are used interchangeably. Mike suggested the industry mostly uses “SerDes”. Michael suggested that the entire PAM4 opening paragraph should be moved from Section 10.1 to later in the document. Radek agreed, except that the first two sentences could remain in 10.1. Mike asked whether the phrase “logic levels” is used correctly in the document. Walter suggested that it is correct; we also use “symbol”. Mike mentioned that the team had discussed but not ratified including a glossary. A search for “logic levels” in the document is suggested. For the next meeting, the team will review an new draft that will include updated tables for Reserved Parameters and address the other changes noted above.
