====================================================================== IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-editorial/ ====================================================================== Attendees from August 05 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Cisco David Siadat Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor Graphics Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff* SAE ITC Maureen Lemankiewicz, Logen Johnson Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Aveiro in Portugal Wael Dghais Mike LaBonte convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Mike noted that minutes from the July 29 meeting were not yet available for review. Minutes from the Aug 05 meeting were reviewed. Walter motioned to approve, Bob seconded the motion. The minutes were approved with no objections. Review of ARs: Mike was to write an I/V table Reference Terminal Clarifications BIRD draft. This was done. Walter said Bob and Radek were to agree on a buffer supply reference pin approach. Bob said they had not yet done that. Mike noted that it may have been an ATM meeting AR. Opens: Bob said he would have to miss all IBIS meetings the following week. Individual BIRDs for IBIS 6.2: Mike showed the list of IBIS 6.2 BIRD candidates. BIRD A: Reserved name rule scoping clarifications Bob said he had been working on the first part of this. BIRD B: I/V table reference terminal clarifications Mike said he had worked on this and could show it for discussion. BIRD C: Ground symbol clarifications Mike said we had previously decided that this could be dropped, but the line item had been retained to maintain the sequence of BIRD letters. It was decided not to change BIRD letters, and Mike deleted BIRD C. BIRD D: Require one model_name per signal_name in [Pin] Bob said he had drafted this, and the ATM group had reviewed it once. BIRD E: Specify POWER/GND [Pin Mapping] by [Pin] Walter said the issue was whether this could be done ignoring the Interconnect BIRD. He said we did not need the new [Bus Label] keyword at this time but that part should be in the Interconnect BIRD. Bob agreed. Mike removed the [Bus Label] part, retaining "Specify POWER/GND [Pin Mapping] by [Pin] signal_name reference". BIRD F: Specify buffer reference terminals for pins Bob said this probably would be worked on after next week due to his vacation. BIRD G: Simulation (aka DIA) vs. DUT Walter said nothing in IBIS talks about how to handle supply voltages during simulation, except for [Receiver Thresholds]. Bob said Radek had concerns about this. Walter said there have been several attempts to reach consensus. Mike tentatively added Bob, Walter, and Radek as BIRD requesters. BIRD H: "GND" clarifications Walter said "GND" appeared in many places, and we needed to make sure GND can be used as a signal name. He suggested it should be part of BIRD A. Mike added the item to BIRD A and deleted BIRD H. BIRD I: C_comp and package reference in simulation clarifications Walter said that currently the C_comp reference terminal should be understood to be a buffer rail. He said packages should use the same reference terminal, but currently node 0 was often used. He said the IBIS specification was not clear on this. Mike tentatively added Bob, Walter, and Radek as BIRD requesters. Arpad said deciding this would be easier for C_comp than for packages. BIRD J: AMI_Version and [IBIS Ver] do not have to match Bob said IBIS already says this on page 203. Mike showed IBIS 6.1 and found the sentence. He deleted BIRD J from the list. BIRD K: Known issues wording Bob said this was known issue #9 in the IBIS 6.1 known_issues.txt file, which Mike showed. Both BIRD K and BIRD M changes are reflected in one paragraph change. We decided to keep the BIRD line items in the list even though these were pure editorial changes and no actual BIRDs would be expected. BIRD L: Document "allowed arguments" of [Resistance Matrix] Bob said the values of the [Define Package Model] matrices are incorrectly referred to in the IBIS specification as reserved parameters. Mike noted that this called for a terminology change only. Bob said he had drafted a BIRD. He said Michael Mirmak had brought this up months ago. Mike added Michael Mirmak as a requester. BIRD M: "Component attached to" fix (Recorded as a known issue, see K) BIRD 180: Require Unique Pin Names in [Pin] Mike noted that this was a submitted BIRD. Bob said this might be deferred until 7.0, noting that the parser already rejects repeated pins. Arpad said this should wait until the Interconnect BIRD. Mike agreed. Mike showed BIRD B, "I/V Table Clarifications". Mike said he had changed the sentence defining positive current direction to a new sentence that addressed both comments from the prior review. Bob said he approved of the change, noting that there still might be an issue for [Series Pin]s. Mike showed the [Series Current] keyword in IBIS 6.1 and found that it clearly noted that positive currents flow into Pin 1. AR: Mike submit "I/V Table Clarifications" BIRD Arpad moved to adjourn. Walter seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned.
