================================================================================ IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ================================================================================ Attendees from August 24, 2018 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki* Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff SiSoft Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Review of minutes from the August 22 meeting: Mike LaBonte moved to approve. Bob Ross seconded. Minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael Mirmak to send the updated IBIS 7.0 draft and checklist. [AR] This was done. Editorial review of ver7_0_180822.docx and the task checklist: Michael Mirmak showed the 180822 checklist spreadsheet. Michael noted we had completed verification through item 19 on the list. Preparing to review item 20, he showed the IBIS 6.1 known issues document. On item 20, Michael said this was a copy/paste error related to platforms and operating systems. He showed the change in the IBIS 7.0 draft. The new text clarifies that "platform" means both operating system and machine architecture. Michael noted that there were some double space characters in the Executable syntax format line. Arpad Muranyi preferred to change those to single spaces. Bob Ross felt single spaces were less readable. Radek Biernacki agreed that double spaces were better. Mike LaBonte suggested that mono-space fonts might make the whitespace more visible for syntax examples. Radek said this was not a syntax example. We marked item 20 as verified. Item 21 had already been marked as withdrawn. On item 22, Michael Mirmak wondered if a BIRD was needed. Bob Ross felt it denoted the use of pseudo-differential. Arpad Muranyi felt this was a clarification. Michael said the change was repeated for native and internal measurements. We marked this as verified. On item 23, Michael Mirmak showed that "Model_Specific" had been fixed. We marked this as verified. We reviewed item 9. Michael Mirmak said we had language to cleanup regarding nodes, reference nodes, and rails. Bob Ross said the last sentence of the change was misleading. Radek Biernacki said dropping "absolute" and leaving "GND" would suffice. Michael made that change. We reviewed language regarding what C_comp_* are connected to. Radek suggested "reference node". For the last sentence of the paragraph he suggested "reference voltage rails". Michael Mirmak made that change. Arpad Muranyi objected to the use of "reference" in "reference voltage rails". Mike LaBonte asked if "supply" would be better. Bob Ross suggested "model reference'. Radek noted that the figure uses "reference". Bob suggested "model's reference" instead of "buffer's reference". Mike said "[Model]" would be better than "model" because the [Model] keyword really refers to a buffer. Arpad objected to "other", as that was vague. Michael Mirmak suggested specifically naming the references we were talking about. He made that change. Bob noted that [External Reference] was absent. Michael Mirmak said we might remove "and the package model equivalent network", per a comment from Arpad. Bob said it might list the specific package model types, such as "[Define Package Model]". Arpad said his suggestion was related to BIRD 189.7. Bob agreed we might revisit this for BIRD 189.7. Michael Mirmak made the change suggested by Bob. Arpad suggested changing "ground" to "GND" in one place, and this was done. We marked this item as verified. Michael Mirmak said the known version 6.1 issues were now all addressed. Arpad Muranyi suggested addressing the "TstoneFile" vs. "Ts4File" example issue. Michael Mirmak added that to the task list as item 49. Arpad said "TstoneFile" did not exist as a meaningful reserved name in IBIS. Radek Biernacki added that models using TstoneFile had it in Model_Specific, and Model_Specific can have anything. Bob said it was one of the first parameters that could be passed as a parameter for [External *]. Arpad noted that BIRD160.1 made parameters available for IBIS, specifically for passing in file names as strings. Bob said it resulted in a more general solution, suggesting that we add an example for the Ts4File Reserved_Parameter. Arpad said he mostly wanted to avoid using "TstoneFile". It could be called something similar instead. He said a number of other instances of "TstoneFile" should be changed. We reviewed those. Radek suggested using "my_file". That change was made in several places. AMI_Version was changed to "7.0". Item 49 was marked as verified. Michael Mirmak said he would not make any IBIS 7.0 draft edits other than the ones just agreed to in the meeting. - Michael Mirmak to send the updated IBIS 7.0 draft and checklist. [AR] Arpad Muranyi moved to adjourn. Radek Biernacki seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. The next meeting will take place Wednesday, Aug 29.
