Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff SiSoft Walter Katz, Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of minutes from the October 16 meeting: Bob Ross moved to approve. Arpad Muranyi seconded. Minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to send the latest IBIS 7.0 draft and checklist. - Michael reported that this is done and thanked Mike LaBonte for posting. Opens: - Michael stated Mike sent out an email on the organization of the AMI parameter section and this touches on several of the checklist items. We have a finalization step to check the numbering of the sections, and we may want to handle this offline. Editorial review of ver7_0_181017.docx and the task checklist: Michael noted the last two items in the known issues list are both related to subsections in Section 10 and relate to the organization of these sections. Michael reviewed, in section 10.6.1, we were about to remove the second paragraph, and we discovered the second paragraph does not mention Rx_Clock_PDF. He asked where the Rx_Clock_PDF parameter should be described. Arpad noted the title of 10.6.1 is Receiver Recovered Clock Reserved Parameters, and he thought that Rx_Clock_PDF is in that family. Michael agreed and noted currently it is in its own section with Rx_Receiver_Sensitivity. Arpad asked how the grouping of the Rx parameters is done. Michael noted that Section 10.6 is the jitter and noise parameters, and it only has two numbered sections. Arpad asked if Rx_Clock_PDF is a jitter and noise parameter. Michael stated the Rx clock parameters are only used for Init and GetWave when it does not return clock_times. He agreed that we have an organizational problem. Arpad was concerned that we may want to relabel the sections of where we place the parameters as there could be overlap in the current sections. Michael stated that this is addressed in Mike's email. Arpad asked if it would be better to make bigger sections. Michael agreed that some parameters could fit under multiple sections and thought we could break them up by Tx and Rx and state that some do not apply for GetWave returning clock_times. Bob commented some of this is historical organization, since we added many of the jitter parameters later. Arpad suggested to make a list of the parameter names to decide how to reshuffle them. Bob thought that we could do this, but some parameters are already in nice groups. Arpad asked if we have a heading for Model Specific parameters. Bob thought we do have this in section in 10.3 with an example. Michael stated this is now toward the end of section of 10.4. Michael thought that hierarchically it does not belong here. Arpad stated that it would be good to look at the whole section to shuffle the headings. Bob commented that we may have wanted some of the base parameters defined before the examples. Michael asked if we need to defer the handling of the redundant text until the organization is fixed. Arpad thought we should. Michael asked, regarding checklist item 58, where we want to put the tables. Bob asked if we want to keep the same style with each section having a summary table. He would also like an overall table summarizing all the Reserved Parameters. Michael asked, taking Section 10.5 as an example, if we would have a section 10.5.1 for the definitions and a section 10.5.2 with the summary tables. And, the final summary tables should be at the end section 10. Bob thought this section has the entire list of the parameters and should be labeled 10.12, since originally, it was labeled 10.8. Arpad noted that the current section 10.11 should be a labeled 10.10.1 as a subsection of 10.10. Michael agreed and changed 10.11 to 10.10.1 and changed the summary tables to section 10.11. Michael noted that we have 7 tables in the summary tables section at the end of section 10. The idea of having the summary table section does not change, but we would label subsections of tables for each section. Michael took an AR to list all the headings and Reserved Parameters for Section 10 [AR]. Bob thought this would be good. He asked if the summary tables have been updated. Michael responded that they need to be checked. Michael stated that checklist items 59 and 60 are for creating new sections for BCI and Interconnect Modeling. He noted Interconnect Modeling is Section 12 and BCI is now Section 10.9. He noted we may renumber these sections but asked if we can mark these items as done. Arpad agreed. We marked checklist items 59 and 60 as verified. Michael noted some of the finalization steps will need to be done after the reorganization. He suggested to complete the work for these finalization steps offline, but he would like to have the reviewers go through these. Bob commented that some of the items might have to wait to the end, such as the copyright date which is a simple change. He agreed that a lot of changes can be done offline. Bob stated the main issue that needs to be addressed is the organization. He noted that the hierarchy diagram can be inserted once the organization is done, but this will upset the page numbers. Bob suggested to announce what we are doing in offline changes and to not do too many changes at once. Michael agreed. He asked about the section headings and if this is only focused on Section 10, although there may be some small errors in other sections. Bob thought the other sections are okay, but he might have inserted the Interconnect Modeling Section in a different location such as before EMI or after EBD. Michael stated that we can discuss this. Michael will send out the latest draft and checklist [AR]. Bob moved to adjourn. Arpad seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. The next meeting will take place Friday, October 19, at 8 AM Pacific. Open Technical Questions: 1. BIRD182: POWER and GND [Pin] signal_name as [Pin Mapping] bus_label a. Is a bus_label created even if we don't have [Pin Mapping], [Bus Label], or [Die Supply Pads] through the [Pin]? b. Is a bus_label short created for legacy package models based on the second column of [Pin] when we do not have a [Pin Mapping] entry?
