================================================================================ IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-editorial/ ================================================================================ Attendees from November 28, 2018 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff SiSoft Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of minutes from the November 21 meeting: Arpad Muranyi moved to approve. Mike LaBonte seconded. Minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Bob Ross to re-download the document and double check the indentation issue with the Figure 1 title. - Michael asked if Bob still sees this issue in the Table of Figures and the Table of Tables. Bob noted in MS-Word 2016 it is okay, but he does see the indentation issue in MS-Word 2010. Bob asked Arpad if he also sees this issue. Arpad replied that he does not see this issue in MS-Word 2013. Mike noted we could try to fix this in MS-Word 2010, but he thought this is a minor issue. Arpad thought we should check how this looks when we create the PDF version. Michael agreed we need to check the PDF. - Bob to send out his editorial issue to the reflector as a question. - Michael noted Bob did send out an email with some editorial comments. Michael addressed some of these in the latest draft, and we will review them today. The line spacing was one of the big ones, and there are some issues to discuss on this. - Michael to send out the latest draft and checklist. - Michael reported this was done. Opens: - Mike has a document with some comments he would like to go over. Michael asked if the resolved comments are still visible. Mike stated that they are, but this version has only 16 comments which are not resolved and may require some discussion. Review of ver7_0_181127_mlabonte.docx: Mike noted this version has many of the previous straight forward comments fixed already by Michael, and this version has only 16 comments which were not yet resolved. On page 36, Michael asked if the highlighted word "on" can be deleted. Arpad agreed. Mike noted in many cases we have the Usage Rules section with no content. He asked if we should remove the Usage Rules text in these cases. Arpad would like to keep them. Bob agreed we should keep these. Michael commented this could be a side effect of the BIRD template. Bob noted we started out IBIS with one sentence Descriptions and more detail in the Usage Rules, but for newer keywords more of the text is in the Description field. Mike commented, on page 254, the text states the EDA tool does two things, and he proposed to add the phrase "how it" to the second part of the sentence. Michael agreed and thought this would make the sentence more clear. Mike noted for many Reserved Parameters the Definition sentence does not end in a period and may not be a complete sentence. Michael commented the classic IBIS Description line often did not end with a period. Mike asked if we want to add periods. Arpad thought that they should end in a period. Bob disagreed stating that many of these are not complete sentences. He thought we should make no changes, as it could take some time to resolve the sentence fragments. Mike stated, on page 265, there is a reference to Fig. 2, but this should be Figure 41. He asked if this should be linked to Figure 41. Michael replied it should. Mike commented there are a few cases of backward quotation marks beginning quoted text. Mike took an AR to fix the cases of incorrect backwards quotation marks [AR]. Mike proposed to fix the line spacing last, but he noted the line spacing between paragraphs should be 4 point. Bob commented we are not consistent on this. Michael asked about the cases where we want the carriage return. Mike asked about Figure 49 on page 296 and if this should be Figure 46 which is directly below the text. Bob agreed it should be Figure 46. Mike changed this to Figure 46. He also noted this sentence needs commas and suggested a wording change. On page 310, Mike asked if the text "Connecting Pins, Pad and Buffer Terminals" should be a heading. Micheal suggested to make this a level 4 heading. Mike asked if we should change the reference to this section on page 33 to make it a true cross reference. Michael also noted that the Section 12 on page 33 should be Section 11. Bob commented the Multi-lingual section has many of these text titles not set as headings. Michael asked if we want to resolve these. Mike asked how we want to handle the references to the "Connecting Pins, Pad and Buffer Terminals" section and if we want this to have a numbered reference. Bob commented we might have other references like this. Mike asked if we could make this a third level heading with a number. Michael agreed with this. Mike replaced the reference to Section 12 with a reference to Section 11.2.1. Michael stated there were many comments from Mike about things with technical implications. For instance, on page 44, there is a technical question on the [Series Pin Mapping] keyword if the reserved model names should also include Circuit Call. Bob agreed this could be an issue. Michael asked if we have a list of potential technical questions. Mike stated in the first pass he did include these as comments, but on the second pass he did start a separate list. He could take the comments and add them to the list. Michael agreed with completing one list. Bob stated we might want to go through the list before we release IBIS 7.0. Mike will create a list of the technical issues he has found [AR]. Bob stated we also have an issue of when to use the word "keyword" and also on plurals of keywords. Mike will send his copy of the document to Michael to double check [AR]. We agreed to tentatively use the ATM time slot to meet next week, as Michael cannot host during the normal Wednesday time slot next week. Mike moved to adjourn. Arpad seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. The next meeting will take place Tuesday, December 4, at Noon Pacific. Open Technical Questions: 1. BIRD182: POWER and GND [Pin] signal_name as [Pin Mapping] bus_label a. Is a bus_label created even if we don't have [Pin Mapping], [Bus Label], or [Die Supply Pads] through the [Pin]? b. Is a bus_label short created for legacy package models based on the second column of [Pin] when we do not have a [Pin Mapping] entry?
