================================================================================ IBIS EDITORIAL TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/editorial_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-editorial@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-editorial/ ================================================================================ Attendees from the December 7, 2018 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki* Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff SiSoft Walter Katz, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Mike LaBonte took minutes. Review of minutes from the December 5 meeting: Michael Mirmak noted one instance of "[AR}" with curly right brace, which he spotted only after searching for all instances of "[AR]". Arpad Muranyi moved to approve. Mike LaBonte seconded. Minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Mike LaBonte to send out the latest draft and checklist. Mike reported this was done. Michael Mirmak noted that documents from both December 3 (AR from November 28 meeting) and December 5 were posted. Mike noted that an IBIS 7.0 Known Issues document, emailed by Michael along with the other December 3 documents, was also posted online. Michael said the online link to that was broken. He also found it interesting that MSWord comments had been copied into it from the source document. Bob Ross suggested that we should review and resolve those issues. - Mike LaBonte to ask Michael Mirmak about the Table encroachment issue. The table issues were mentioned in the list email conveying the documents. [AR]: Mike LaBonte to fix broken link to IBIS 7.0 Known Issues document. Opens: Mirmak said we would need to release 7.0 for public review by a near-term deadline if there is to be a vote to ratify IBIS 7.0 at the DesignCon summit. Bob Ross suggested that we should introduce 7.0 there but not vote. Michael said it would be good public relations to be able to say the specification was approved in a public forum. Review of ver7_0_181205.docx: Arpad Muranyi asked to review Table 20, which extends beyond the right text column margin. Arpad said we had tried unsuccessfully to make it narrower to fit the column. Michael Mirmak said the padding around heading words was causing the extra width. Radek Biernacki asked if it was really such a problem that the table extends outside the column. Mike LaBonte noted that it looked like there was at least a half inch of margin, so it should print OK. Michael showed the print preview to prove that. He suggested that the headers could be shortened to make the table narrower. Mike said that he had previously tried to padding from .08 to .06 for those cells, but somehow it didn't work. Michael Mirmak made that change, but it did not make the table narrower. Arpad suggested hyphenation "Increment" to make it a bit narrower. Bob Ross objected, noting that it could cause confusion because "Dual-Dirac" has an explicit hyphen. Michael changed the font size to 8 points and the table then fit the column well. He then changed the format headings to vertical orientation, making them tall and narrow. He also restored font size to original. Arpad suggested "Dual-Dirac" could then be a single line, and also that each column could then be the same width. Bob suggested using auto-fit, which was tried. This was rejected because the table was too narrow and crowded. A good arrangement was achieved by trial and error. Bob suggested reversing the vertical orientation, rotating it clockwise instead. Mike said counter-clockwise would be best because it would allow for turning the printed document, with a binding on the left, such that it flips with the binding on the far edge. We decided to keep it rotated counter-clockwise. Arpad asked if the font size was too large. It was the same as other tables. Michael changed the orientation of Table 23 headers to vertical. Arpad suggested that Michael could fix all such tables offline, after the meeting. [AR] Michael Mirmak to adjust all Allowable Data Format tables using vertical header alignment. Bob said page 194 had bold text that should be plain. This was fixed. Mike noted that there was no page number for 194. Michael Mirmak suggested that task 81 was largely done. Bob Ross said we still needed to decide how to handles possessives ending in "s" (Ross' or Ross's). Mike LaBonte said journalists have trended toward ending in "'s". Michael Mirmak asked if the new known issues document should be named with "7.1", not "7.0". Mike said previous such documents have been named based on the document they are correcting. Also it was not yet known if the next IBIS would be 7.1 or 8.0. Arpad asked if the next meeting should use the Tuesday ATM time slot. We agreed to meet then. Michael Mirmak said he would also be available for Wednesday. Mike LaBonte would not be available. Mike LaBonte moved to adjourn. Radek Biernacki seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. The next meeting will take place Tuesday, December 11, at Noon Pacific. Open Technical Questions: 1. BIRD182: POWER and GND [Pin] signal_name as [Pin Mapping] bus_label a. Is a bus_label created even if we don't have [Pin Mapping], [Bus Label], or [Die Supply Pads] through the [Pin]? b. Is a bus_label short created for legacy package models based on the second column of [Pin] when we do not have a [Pin Mapping] entry?
