Following is my two cents worth:

The output current is always a function of both the rail voltages.

So it is not enough if ibis specifies that both the v-i are referenced to the
most positive rail. There should be an explicit additional specification as to what the other rail voltage is. (Acutally I think in general explicit specification of both the rail voltages at the measurement point is always necessary).
