Hi jon,
        I hope this explanation helps. For a diff. rcvr, the Vth and Vtl or
        VT+ and VT- are levels swinging above and below 0 volts differential
        and not 0 volts ground.

        Here is an example. Let's say Receiver inputs are VIH=+1.5V and VIL=+1.3V
        For the First cycle VT+ = 1.5-1.3 = +0.2 volts. On the next cycle,
        VT- = 1.3-1.5 = -0.2V. That's how you get a +/- number. Note that the
        VIH and VIL were always +ve voltages.

        Ideally the Vth and Vtl are symetrical.
