Subject: [IBIS-Users] Seeking Letters of Support for NextGen Spice2Ibis
proposal to NSF

The purpose of this email is to seek letters of support for a proposal
we are preparing for the National Science Foundation (a US Government
Agency) for a next generation Spice2Ibis effort. In the past,
Spice2Ibis was supported by DARPA but with substantial changes to how
DARPA does business, that model is no longer viable. I have attached an
Executive Summary of the proposal we are preparing for NSF. The full
proposal is due at NSF on February 7.

If as many of you as possible can prepare a letter of support and get
them to me next week, that would be much appreciated. These letters do
not have to be long. Even a few lines is fine. PDF or word is fine,
even if unsigned. You can also fax them to Patsy Ashe at 919.515.2285 .

Possible items you could include in a letter are as follows:

- A little about yourself, your company, and the importance of
IBIS and Spice2Ibis to your company or to the Industrial community at
large.

- Something about the value of NCSU's past efforts in
Spice2Ibis

- Your willingness to participate in the proposed research
through any of the mechanisms listed. (Note, even just providing
feedback on results and tools is still valuable.)

- A closing statement expressing your support.

Note that in the letter you do not have to specifically commit any
resources to this project BUT if you are in a position to commit or
consider committing future resources, even if it is just consideration
of the students in this project for intern positions, that would be good
to mention.

If you have any questions, feedback or thoughts on the proposal, feel
free to communicate them to Michael and I.

BTW, I do have an excellent PhD student lined up for this work. If any
of you are interested in hosting an intern this summer, please let me
know and I will put you in touch with her.

Finally, has anyone got any data or estimates on the $ value of IBIS to
the industry as a whole?

Thanks in advance,
