DATE: April 8, 2002 DESCRIPTION OF BUG: When the parser checks some I-V and V-t data for mismatches, the I-V intercept point predicted in the parser error output is plainly incorrect when the actual model data is analyzed (all I-V load intercepts are predicted to be 0 V, 0 A for the typical corner only; max and min corners are unaffected). As a consequence, the parser erroneously flags an excessively large percentage error, in this case due to division by zero. As the parser does not output similar errors for all buffers, the precise circumstances under which these errors are "discovered" by the parser are unknown. The error percentage estimate and the parser I-V prediction algorithm should be corrected to properly report mismatches and I-V intercept points. IBISCHK3 actually helps uncover some obscure problems with the file. The main problem is associated with the messages: WARNING (line 900) - Value 0.000000e+000 repeated in the First Column which are caused by two hard-to-locate occurences of these lines: -808.03720000E-18 311.22859218E-9 1.86708302E-6 24.04900260E-9 0.00000000E+0 311.22859218E-9 1.86708302E-6 24.04900260E-9 Most tools would process -808.03720000E-18 as 0. So the model generation utility has a bug allowing two repeated lines. While strictly not equal, subsequent numerical comparisons may treat these values as equal and cause numerical algorithms to fail. Commenting out one of the lines in the [Gnd Clamp] table removes the unrelated Warning and Error messages. Commenting out the 1.500V line of the [Power Clamp] table also removes unrelated Warning and Error messages since this eliminates a direct comparison with the [Gnd Clamp] 0 V value. Note, if the [Gnd Clamp] -808.03720000E-18 value is set to 0, then even more Errors and Warnings are produced. So there are a number of "Annoying" consequences to generating models with almost (but not exact) repeated values causing false or unrealated Warnings and Errors. BUG68 is probably not related to BUG63. ----------------------------- Classified at the April 19, 2002 IBIS Meeting. However, the actions needs further discussion. Discussed May 10, 2002. Internal problem has been fixed. Still need to check sensitivity of the compare. May decide not to fix. Discussed May 31, 2002. Bug to be fixed. An internal limit appears to be set to 1e-5. We will decide on a new hardcoded limit if such a limit exists.
