No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the December 14 meeting. Mike LaBonte moved to approve the minutes. Arpad Muranyi seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Mike to fix the web link to the Table XX. Mike reported this was a typo in the file extension and is now fixed. - Michael to move Interconnect BIRD flow example to BIRD introduction. Michael reported this is done. - Michael to fix inconsistent black lines in the Interconnect BIRD figures. Michael reported this is done. - Michael to find a proper place and language for Interconnect Rules of Precedence. Michael reported that he thinks this is done in the latest draft. Opens: - Michael noted that Randy Wolff sent out a version with a few fixes. - Bob Ross suggested to use Randy's draft as a starting point for draft 46. Michael agreed. Interconnect BIRD draft 46: Michael noted that in the Chapter 7.2 Rules of Precedence section there was a question on supporting overlapping sets of pins between a [Package Model] and an [Interconnect Model Set Selector]. Arpad asked why we would want to allow overlapping models. Michael noted that in some cases only the [Package Model] format might be supported in an EDA tool. Bob noted that the EDA tool and user should be able to make a selection between the model types. Michael commented that we are restricting the model makers to support both formats in the case that EDA tools do not yet support the Interconnect Models. Arpad asked if the model maker is not allowed to provide overlapping sets, then this disallows the model makers from modeling only a high speed bus with an [Interconnect Model Set Selector]. Walter thought we should not restrict the models in this way. Arpad suggested to add a note to this section to state that EDA tools should not be expected to support multiple package formats simultaneously. Bob raised an issue where [External Circuit] is not valid for power integrity simulation. He proposes to remove [External Circuit] from the Rules of Precedence. Michael suggested to highlight the sentence in question and come back to it. In the new figure, Bob suggested to put "Die Pad" on a single line. Arpad asked about the term "Die Pad Terminals". He suggested to use just "Die Pads". He noted that "Buffer Terminals" is okay, since it is specific to the terminals rather than the buffer contents. Randy had a few comments that he added in his review of the BIRD draft. The first is in regards to some repetitive sentences in the Chapter 12.1 sections. Michael removed these repetitive sentences. Randy also had a comment suggesting to add text describing the interconnect routing figure. Michael added some description text to the document for this figure. Randy asked about the color of the highlighted pads in one of the pictures which are mislabeled as black. Arpad asked if the IBIS specification will be in color or black and white. Michael stated that the IBIS specification is generally consumed electronically, and he thought having color should be okay. Bob suggested that the picture of the routing is a bit busy and suggested replacing it with a simpler drawing. Bob suggested to remove the phrase "SPICE deck" from the introductory text on Touchstone file instances. Arpad asked how close we are to complete and if anything can be announced at the upcoming Summit meeting. Michael mentioned that we still have significant work before submitting the BIRD to the IBIS Open Forum, but he thought the work being done by this group can be discussed at the Summit meeting. Bob added that he still has some additional comments on the BIRD. Mike moved to adjourn. Arpad seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
