Michael Mirmak* Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield* Randy Wolff SiSoft (MathWorks) Walter Katz* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Zuken USA Lance Wang* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the January 6, 2020 meeting. Michael displayed the minutes. Curtis Clark moved to approve the minutes. Lance Wang seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to edit and make consistent "e.g." and "i.e." followed by a comma. - Michael reported Randy Wolff had fixed this in draft5. - Randy to add fixing "in length" and "PCI Express" to the IBIS 7.0 known issues list. - Done. - Randy to send out EMD BIRD202.2 draft5. - Done. Opens: - None. BIRD202.2 draft5 review: Michael noted the only comments in the document are for text that has been deleted or otherwise edited. There are a few instances of highlighted text, but these are related to items that will be resolved when the document is folded into the IBIS specification. Bob Ross noted the section reference errors on page 5 should be to Section 3.2. Michael commented this is consistent between the two file name cases. Michael asked about the section reference on page 7. Bob replied we need to double check this with the IBIS specification. Arpad Muranyi suggested to resolve this as an editorial issue. Michael suggested the reference on page 7 should be Section 3.1 "File Naming Definitions". Bob agreed with this and noted this format is consistent with the other references. Michael highlighted the table references to be reviewed later. He noted the figure numbers will also need to be resolved. Michael found several Section 3.2 references. He highlighted these and added the section titles. Bob noted we are not consistent with using all capital letters or mixed case for the section titles. Michael asked if we should use single quotes or double quotes. He noted these are issues in the IBIS specification. IBIS 7.0 tends to use all capital letters and double quotes, but the use of the section title is not consistent. Michael asked about the Section 13.6 reference on page 16. He highlighted this to be reviewed later. Michael asked if the Section 13.3 reference should have the title. Arpad replied, if it is in the same section, it does not need the title. Michael asked about the Section 3.2 reference on page 21. The Section 3 reference also does not have a title. Bob stated we will need to resolve this for all of the IBIS specification. Bob asked if Section 13.6 exists and if we should include the title on page 16. Michael asked if we need to include the lengthy title name in this case. Arpad suggested to say "Section 13.6 below". Bob noted some of these are in Section 12. Michael stated, per our rule, we should add the section title to this reference. Bin list review: Michael noted there are four items in the bin list left open. Arpad thought item #1, regarding shorted vs. connected, was done. Michael noted there are 12 instances of the word "shorted" in the BIRD. Arpad noted we resolved some of these with his comments. Michael stated we use "shorted" in other places beyond the keywords we edited with Arpad's comments. Michael suggested we should only have quotes for the first instances of "shorted" and "connected". He suggested to mark this item as complete in the bin list. Michael noted the next open items #21 and #22 are regarding Voltage List vs. Voltage Range. Bob commented this was related to being in alignment with the IBIS Model Voltage Range. Michael thought there were aspects of Voltage List that need to match the IBIS specification. Arpad suggested there are some wording issues with the "default" statement. Bob stated there are multiple issues, and one of them is the referencing and how the voltages are defined. Michael asked how much we want to fix in Voltage List now. Bob suggested to not fix this here and wait for the other BIRDs that address this issue. The related BIRDs are not yet approved and would need to be expanded to include Voltage List. Arpad suggested to not use the word "default" for Voltage List. Michael suggested we can close item #21 but keep item #22 open. Michael noted, for item #27, we have already made changes to the section references. Arpad suggested this can be done after the other items. EMD Parts selector discussion: Bob asked about the EMD Parts selector topic. Michael commented this is not in the BIRD currently. Bob noted we do not have a mechanism for selecting a parts list. Arpad asked how much time it would take to add this new feature. Bob replied the issue is we should put it in now or we shut down the idea completely. Arpad commented it is an independent feature that could be added later. Bob commented, if we use the Package Model as a template, then we must put a name on the Package Model. For EMD Parts, we do not have a name on the list, and this would be a problem. Walter Katz suggested to give each EMD Parts a name. Arpad stated the problem with this is that you would have to repeat the EMD Parts list for each case. Michael suggested to make EMD Parts the main topic next time. Michael will send out EMD BIRD202.2 draft6 and the bin list [AR]. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be January 20. Walter moved to adjourn. Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: (See BIRD202.1 tracking spreadsheet) IBIS-ISS Parser: - IBIS-ISS parser scope document
