Opens - None BINARY FORMAT: Walter Katz reported that all participants are supporting a new proposal. We are looking for examples (from Greg Edlund) and possibly binary encoding and decoding utilities to read and write binary files. A TSIRD would be the next step. Bob Ross commented that it would probably be written as a word document section in the specification and would include some special rules such as no [End] statement and no support for [Noise Data]. Vladimir Dmitriev-Zdorov asked if it it would apply to Touchstone 1.0 formats, and the response was yes. The command lines for binary format would appear after the options line (# line) and before the the network data content. We will be looking for a proposal in the future. SPARSE MATRIX MAPPING and LABEL FORMAT DRAFT-8 REVIEW Bob brought up the marked up Draft 8 copy to first review. Walter managed the word document in preparation for Draft 9. http://www.eda.org/ibis/adhoc/interconnect/index-bydate.htm http://www.eda.org/ibis/adhoc/interconnect/Sparse_Matrix_Mapping_draft8_markup.pdf Bob noted that we are assuming integer-label wording and rules in this document, but that will be for discussion later. We may change the name used to discuss labels from "integer-label" to "sparse-label" independent of whether we keep the integer label syntax or use symbolic text labels. However, no change is made for Draft 9. With a quick review, we noted that the argument for [Number of Sparse Label]s should be on the same line, not the next line. The examples with the argument on the next line need to be changed. Walter used the phrasing similar to that used by the [Number of Ports] keyword. Walter added a clarification rule: "[Sparse Matrix Mapping] and its arguments may span multiple lines." The other changes in draft8 were accepted, but the examples may be reviewed again at a later time. Walter noted that he prefers the term transfer function versus data pairs. We will issue Draft 9 for a brief review. Bob showed slides 10-20 to illustrate the existing [Sparse Matrix Mapping] syntax from an earlier presentation: http://www.vhdl.org/pub/ibis/summits/nov09a/ross2.pdf It showed a physically symmetrical connector and also showed that [Matrix Format] Upper or Lower also reduced the number of index-pairs that needed to be documented. Bob also noted physical symmetry, reciprocity and matrix symmetry. The last term applies to the example when the parameters on each side are identical. Walter whether interconnects are reciprical, and Vladimir responded yes in theory, but measurements can show minor differences. SPARSE LABEL SYNTAX Bob noted that the sparse label syntax remains an issue. Brad Brim had e-mailed Bob his position. We will devote the time to consider the labeling issue at the next meeting.
