====================================================================== IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ====================================================================== Attendees from February 8 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Cisco David Siadat Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki, Ming Yan Mentor Graphics Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff* SAE ITC Maureen Lemankiewicz, Logen Johnson Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Aveiro in Portugal Wael Dghais Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the January 25 meeting. Mike LaBonte moved to approve the minutes. Bob Ross seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to post BIRD 189. - Michael reported this is done. Opens: - None - Walter Katz sent out a draft of proposed changes to EBD based on BIRD 189 which he would like the committee members to review off-line. - Walter mentioned that Michael's presentation at the DesignConn Summit on the Interconnect BIRD was well received. BIRD 189.1: Walter stated that on page 23 under the "For rail connection" section that pin_name and pad_name are swapped in a couple of places. Bob suggested that on page 38 the Other Notes section for the [End Interconnect Model] keyword should be deleted. He noted that this text has already been moved to another section. He commented that the other "End" keywords do not contain this section. Walter suggested that once a document has been formally submitted, comments and change requests should formally submitted in an email to the group before the meeting. Then, changes to the document can be voted on in the meeting. Michael agreed and thought we can give this a try. Mike had noticed some spelling errors and that the number_of_terminals sub-parameter was missing the underscore in a few places. Bob noted that the blank version of Table 41 is already deleted. Michael stated that there is the possibility the IBIS Open Forum will send the BIRD back to this group for further work. Future Direction of the Interconnect Task Group: Michael asked what will be the future topics if any for this meeting. Walter suggested to still have this meeting while we wait for the Open Forum to provide feedback on BIRD 189. He noted that we still need to replace the figure graphics in the BIRD. He thought this group should wait until we get some feedback on BIRD 189, before we putting substantial work into an EBD replacement. Bob agreed. Michael stated that there is some interest in Touchstone updates and pending TSIRDs. He also noted that there was some interest in an IBIS-ISS parser, although this would likely be a better topic for another Task Group. Mike suggested that at some point we might want to have a vote from this group to officially recommend the BIRD be approved, but it is not required. Bob thought we essentially already have done this by submitting the BIRD to the IBIS Open Forum. Michael asked if we want to submit BIRD 189.1 as it stands now, or if we want to fix the figures first. Mike suggested that there is no hurry to update it, and we can wait to submit BIRD 189.1 with updated figures. Mike asked if we should post a working draft of BIRD 189.1 to the website with the current changes. Bob thought that we should post a draft for this group to track and review. Michael suggested to have a meeting next week, and we can decide on the next steps for BIRD 189.1 and whether to suspend future meetings at that time. Touchstone 2 Proposed Changes: Walter asked what the proposed changes to Touchstone 2.0 are. Michael replied that there are three relatively minor proposed changes posted on the TSIRD website. He also noted there are additional requests to add a port mapping information section and to add the capability to use a time domain step response. Walter added that he would also like to see a poles and zeros model format. He also mentioned that he has a fundamental disagreement with Radek on how to implement binary support. Bob moved to adjourn. Mike seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
