Michael Mirmak* Marvell Steve Parker MathWorks Walter Katz* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield* Randy Wolff* Siemens EDA Arpad Muranyi* ST Microelectronics Aurora Sanna Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Illinois Jose Schutt-Aine Zuken USA Lance Wang* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the March 2, 2022 meeting. Michael displayed the minutes. Arpad Muranyi motioned to approve the minutes. Randy Wolff seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Arpad to send the Designator Pin List Relaxation BIRD to Randy for submission to the IBIS Open Forum. - Arpad reported this is done. - Michael to send TSIRD4 to Randy for submission to the IBIS Open Forum. - Michael reported this is done. Michael asked if we can talk about these in Friday's Open Forum meeting. Randy replied that these are on the agenda. Opens: - Michael noted Randy has proposed a new format for the ISSIRD and TSIRD documents. Discussion: ISSIRD Template: Randy shared draft 3 of the ISSIRD document format. Randy made minor formating corrections to note IBIS-ISS rather than IBIS or ISS. The links were updated, and other editorial fixes were applied. This document is set to be introduced as a new template for the ISSIRD. Arpad asked about the line separators and if there is a way to prevent this when copying and pasting into the document. Michael replied it is not a line in the drawing sense, rather it is a border. Randy asked if we need to remove the borders completely. Arpad asked if there is a simpler way to add the line. Randy stated we could make changes to the BIRD template. Michael asked if we would have a webpage when we have the template and the first submission. Randy stated we can ask Steve Parker to start on the webpage. Michael asked about Microsoft Word as a registered trademark. Randy noted we can change this in the final version if necessary. Bob motioned to recommend that this document be used as the format for IBIS-ISS changes. Randy seconded. There were no objections. TSIRD Template: Randy had also created an updated TSIRD document. The format is similar to the BIRD template. The differences are minor and mostly to refer to Touchstone. Randy asked about the use of the registered trademark in reference to the "Touchstone(R) File Format", and when should we use the full specification name. Randy asked if we need an indication of which version the change is relative to. Arpad asked if we do this with IBIS. Randy replied we do not have this for IBIS. Bob stated the assumption is that we make the changes in increment. He suggested to not add this to the document, but we can add this to the website. Randy asked about the existing TSIRDs. Arpad replied that it depends on the direction we want to take. If we have a fork in the specification, it could be an issue, but if we continue editing the specification, it should not be an issue. Randy agreed we likely do not need this field for now. Bob thought that IBIS owns the Touchstone trademark. Michael thought that Agilent let the trademark lapse. Randy suggested we may be able to remove the registered symbol. Randy will send out the TSIRD format [AR]. Port Naming: Walter has suggested a syntax for the port naming in a table and included feedback from Arpad. Walter stated the format has a port name, a net, a group and a differential designator. Ports on the same net are connected. The group is an indication of where the port is. And, the differential column says which port is the differential pair. Walter suggested that all the columns are necessary except for the differential. Michael commented that there is no polarity information. Randy asked about the group and how it would work with a separate bus for data and address. Walter replied if you have address with one signal it could have the same group if it is on the same chip. Randy commented the combination of group and net are meaningful. Arpad had asked about the reference port. Arpad had suggested a Port Reference Data table with similar columns. Walter stated we don't support referencing per port in IBIS Interconnect and EMD. Randy noted it is supported in IBIS-ISS. Walter noted Arpad had suggested a list of pins. Arpad noted that this would apply to merged power and ground pins. He did not think this would be useful for signals. Arpad stated one thing that is missing in this format is that we only know the signal name but not the pin_name. Randy noted we would still be connecting this up with IBIS Interconnect or EMD. Arpad stated we would not know how to connect the Touchstone up automatically to the IBIS. Walter suggested we could add another column. Walter will send out the email with the suggested port naming format discussion [AR]. Michael stated we will need to discuss a possible TSIRD. Randy motioned to adjourn. Arpad seconded. The meeting adjourned. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be March 16. ================================================================================ Bin List: 1. Touchstone 3 2.
