Opens - None BINARY ENCODING Bob Ross introduced the tsbin1_draft2.pdf document for review. Greg Edlund provided the changes to BINARY from two arguments to three arguments per some previous meeting discussions. Separating the precision of frequency and of data is the advantage of this new format. Per previous discussion we had agreed that the binary format would apply to Version 2.1 and above. Bob had reformated the examples and made other changes into a Version 2.1 form. Greg noted that the string after BINARY was missing. Bob stated that this was a mistake abd that there was no default setting. Bob also obseved some other mistakes. John Angulo asked if the [End] exclusion was necessary since the [Number of Ports] and [Number of Frequencies] and other information could be used to determine the end of the binary noise data in Version 2.1. A utility could re-insert it after the conversion. Greg Edlund thought this might be ok. Bob mentioned that this might also apply to [Noise Data], if present. Bob reviewed the bullet items at the top of the document. Some of these were already discussed. The binary conversion applies to Touchstone 2.1 and above. Binary converion is not supported when [Noise Data] exists for 2-port formats. However, Bob thought that this restriction could be lifted if the [End] restriction is removed in a similar manner - copy the data and then re-insert it in the proper location. That would be a consequence of limiting the official binary conversion to Touchstone 2.1 and above. The [End] statement issue has been previously discussed. Bob questioned whether the % BINARY keyword could be replaced with a keyword [Binary]. Greg did not see any problems. Bob noted that % BINARY is positioned after [Network Data] Michael Mirmak agreed to take over editing this proposal. Action Items: Bob will make updates to the document - several corrections - replacement of % BINARY with [Binary]. - Style changed for Touchstone 2.1 are deferred. - Turn over the corrected document to Michael Mirmak MODEL CONNECTION PROTOCOL (MCP) The document is still in preparation, so futher discussion is delayed until a document is submitted. MISCELLANEOUS Michael Mirmak will be returning as Chair of the Interconnect Task Group starting on April 7 and has already set up the Live Meeting and bridge numbers for future meetings. NEXT MEETING Continued discussion on the Binary Encoding Proposal and Model Connection Protocol per document availability.
