====================================================================== IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ====================================================================== Attendees from April 12 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Cisco David Siadat Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki, Ming Yan Mentor, A Siemens Company Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff* SAE ITC Maureen Lemankiewicz, Logen Johnson Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Aveiro in Portugal Wael Dghais Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the March 29 meeting. Walter Katz moved to approve the minutes. Randy Wolff seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to post and submit BIRD189.1 to the IBIS Open Forum. - Michael reported this is done. Opens: - None BIRD189.1: Michael stated he believes there have been no new comments on BIRD189.1. Bob Ross mentioned that there were a few comments from the IBIS Open Forum meeting and from the Editorial meeting. Michael asked if these can be taken up as editorial tasks. Bob thought that we could do this, but it would be better to present as clean of a BIRD as possible. Bob noted that on page 23 that the "aggressor_only" header should be capitalized. Michael asked if that makes it inconsistent with the other Terminal_type_qualifers. Bob thought that it is more important to match all the other uses of "Aggressor_Only" in the BIRD. Michael made the change and noted that it will be in BIRD189.2. Bob asked whether we should use the name "Buffer_I/O" or "Buf_I/O". This is an interaction with BIRD 181.1 which uses "Buffer_I/O", while BIRD189.1 uses "Buf_I/O" to denote the buffer I/O terminal. The two BIRDs do not agree on the name of this terminal. Michael asked what the status of BIRD181.1 is. Bob replied that it is not yet approved. Walter commented that in his view this is an editorial issue. Bob disagreed and stated that he prefers to resolve this issue before the BIRDs are approved. Michael asked if BIRD181.1 should be changed to "Buf_I/O" and suggested that we not change this in BIRD189.1 until the issue is resolved. Bob also noted that the requestors list on page 1 should match the list on page 3 with the addition of company affiliations. Michael asked in the case that the "Buf_I/O" name is not required to be changed, if we can submit and vote on BIRD189.1 in the IBIS Open Forum noting these small changes. Bob thought this could be possible, but not in the case that we have to change from "Buf_I/O" to "Buffer_I/O". This would be a significant change and affect the examples. Michael would like to hold a vote on the May 12th IBIS Open Forum meeting. He asked if that would be possible. Bob mentioned there are still some changes to BIRD181.1 that they are working on. Michael took an AR to contact Radek to find out if he will be at the Editorial meeting this Friday to resolve the conflict with BIRD181.1. Michael asked if we need to schedule a meeting for next week. Bob thought we should have one depending on what comes out of the Editorial meeting on Friday. Walter asked about the status of BIRD181.1. Bob feels there are linkages between BIRD189.1 and BIRD181.1 to define the terminals. Walter stated he would like to have BIRD189.1 in the next release of the IBIS Specification while other BIRDs could be in IBIS 7.1. Michael mentioned that if we want BIRD189.1 to get into software releases for next year, the IBIS Open Forum would need to approve the BIRD by May time frame. Bob moved to adjourn. Walter seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
