================================================================================ IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ================================================================================ Attendees from April 18, 2018 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff* SiSoft Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the April 11 meeting. Mike LaBonte moved to approve the minutes. Bob Ross seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to ask Radek if his "Important" note is a tool instruction and if we can change the phrase "shall be treated as". - Michael noted this was discussed in ATM and significant revisions to the text were made. Opens: - Bob stated we still need to discuss the rail rules. Michael noted this is on the agenda with a review of the current draft. BIRD189.5_draft18_v8 Review: Michael stated on page 30 the "Important" notes we reviewed in ATM and need to be changed. Michael asked Arpad Muranyi what the latest text that should be used is. Arpad stated he made some small changes in an email and would like to discuss combining the two notes. Arpad questioned the word "incorrect" and suggested to add the word "may" after potentially. Mike thought that the phrase "potentially may" sounded redundant. Arpad said he is okay with how the text is written now. Arpad stated that the word "incorrect" is not appropriate. Mike suggested the word "unexpected". Michael thought it can be reviewed as part of the editorial pass. Walter Katz suggested the word "different". Walter moved to change the word "incorrect" to "different". Bob seconded the motion. Michael was concerned that it is different from what. Walter stated that you are not accounting for all the currents, so you will get different results. Walter withdrew the motion. Mike noted in regards to merging the "Important" note paragraphs, the second paragraph is different, since it mentions TS4_File. Michael asked if there is anything wrong with the sentence. Arpad replied that this sentence is telling model makers to pay special attention to the Terminal_type. Walter stated the model maker should pay attention to all of the terminals. Mike commented that this warning implies that there is a certain mistake to avoid, and it is not clear to him from the text what that mistake is. Walter moved to remove the second "Important" note paragraph. Bob seconded the motion. Arpad objected to the motion. The roll call vote tally was: Intel - Abstain Mentor - No Micron - Yes SiSoft - Yes TeraSpeed - Yes The roll call vote concluded with a tally of Yes – 3, No – 1, Abstain – 1. The motion passed. Randy Wolff commented that he agreed with Mike's statement about it not being clear what mistake is to be avoided with Arpad's warning text. Michael noted there are several comments associated with the section of "Important" notes that have been replaced. The first two comments have been resolved. And, the third comment now has the necessary language changes in the new note. Michael stated there are some remaining comments associated with deleted sections that can now be removed. Michael commented the only remaining issue is the rail rule relaxation. Bob would like to propose to keep the rail rule changes. Walter would like to remove this text. Arpad stated he is not necessarily opposed to the rules, but there is significant work to do on the wording. He would like to see a version of the BIRD without the rail rule changes. He stated this is another topic that could take time to discuss. Bob asked if the intent is to keep the rail rule changes in BIRD189.5 or to put the changes in as a BIRD189.6. Arpad would like to have a clean copy without the rail rule changes. Walter agreed that we could come up with a clean version of the document, and Bob can change that document. Michael clarified that the proposal would be to submit BIRD189.5 without the rail rule changes, and a BIRD189.6 with the changes could come later. Bob stated he prefers to not go that route, but he would accept it. Michael asked if there is a formal motion to do this. Arpad moved to submit the draft of BIRD189.5 without the rail rule relaxations. Walter seconded the motion. Randy agreed with this approach. Bob said he would be okay with this, but he would oppose BIRD189 in the Open Forum without the rail rule changes. There were no objections. Bob asked who should do the changes. Michael asked what should be removed and added back in. Bob noted the changes are marked in red, including the red strike through where text was deleted. Mike noted we do have a previous version without the changes, but it may be missing some editorial changes and the "Important" note changes. Walter suggested for Michael to make the edits live. Michael went through the document and backed out the rail rules changes that Bob made in red. Bob stated on page 9, he would like keep to the words "as a" before Buffer_Rail. He noted that we are mixing two concepts in this sentence. Walter agreed with keeping this in. On page 24, Bob had removed the word "token", as it is not used anywhere else in BIRD189. Michael agreed with deletion. On page 31, Bob suggested to keep the phrase "referenced through Interconnect Model Set(s)", which he had added. Michael asked if we are ready to submit this. He also asked if there is anything in the History section that needs to be added. Bob stated he is okay with submitting. Walter asked if we should accept all changes before submitting. Mike stated he will do a document compare between BIRD189.4 and BIRD189.5 to reflect those changes in the markup before posting. Michael will send out the BIRD189.5_draft18_v8, and unless any objections are submitted over email, he will send BIRD189.5 as a formal submission on Friday [AR]. Arpad asked if this needs to be taken up in ATM next week. Michael stated he does not see any need to discuss BIRD189, but he cannot comment on BIRD158. Walter stated he has a schematic picture that he would like to discuss in ATM. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be April 25. Mike moved to adjourn. Randy seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. Task List BIRD189.5 editorial additions/changes to be completed: 1. Resolve inconsistency with using node 0 and node "0" by replacing with "node 0".
