Michael Mirmak* Ifiok Umoh Eric Edwards Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield* Randy Wolff* SiSoft Walter Katz Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Zuken USA Lance Wang* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the April 29, 2020 meeting. Randy Wolff moved to approve the minutes. Bob Ross seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Bob to paste the updated EMD Parts section into EMD draft 8 and send it out. - Michael reported this was sent out. Bob noted he made the other changes discussed last week as well. Opens: - None. EMD Draft Review: Bob shared the changes made in EMD draft8. He copied in the latest version of the EMD Parts section. Randy stated this looks good. Bob noted the NA rules are stated in this text. A second option allows functions not supported in IBIS to have NC pin connections. Bob noted a "timer.ibs" case was added to the example. Randy suggested for future drafts to remove the red text, since this has been agreed upon. Bob noted there are other comments in red which he would like to keep for now including regarding section 13.7. Michael asked if section 13.7 is new. Bob replied, yes, it is new. Bob noted section 13.5 defines the terminal_type definitions. Section 13.6 is now the example section with pictures. The figures do not yet have captions. Bob stated we may want to change the name of section 13.6.1. Randy noted the font is mismatched in the note 2 of Figure Y. Randy also found a few other typos, and stated he can send a list after the meeting. Bob noted section 13.6.2 is the example syntax. Randy asked if the title of Example 1 could be more detailed. He suggested to change the name to Net A07 with Embedded Resistors. Bob asked about the other examples. Randy will review the example names and propose more clear names [AR]. Bob suggested we could add more section breaks in the examples. He also suggested to break up the examples in different subsections. Randy agreed they can work on this. Bob noted he also made a correction to terminal line 18 in Example 2 to change it to signal_name and remove the comment. Randy noted there is red text in the examples that can be changed to black. For Example 3, Bob changed the subcircuit setup to make the number of terminals match. He will also make this text black. Bob noted section 13.7 is for the connection rules, which tries to capture all the rules. The rules cover aggressor_only and overlapping pin_names and signal_names for Models, Sets, and Groups. For all EMD models referenced by Sets and Groups, it is not permitted to duplicate pin_names for I/Os. Bob noted we really meant this for one interface. He added a qualifier at any one interface to this rule. Randy suggested to highlight this rule and discuss it in the context of an example to make sure we all understand. Bob noted we do not have periods at the end of the each rule. Michael stated we can cover this as part of our editorial fixes. Randy noted, in connection rule 1.a.v, it should be EMD Pin List. Randy asked about the connection rule 1.a.vi rule and if this is referring to the post register net. Bob replied, yes, this was the intent of the rule. Randy suggested to look at figure Z for reference. Randy asked if the connection rules read okay or if we need quotes around the pin list lines. Bob agreed quotes would be good. Randy asked if we need to preface the lines with pin list text. Bob suggested the example text could be in Courier font. Michael stated this would require more of a global change. Bob noted there are similar connection rules for rails. Randy stated we will need to review these. Bob commented the text at the end of the connection rules can be deleted. Randy asked about the examples if these can be deleted. Bob stated these should be retained. Randy asked if these came out of another section such as 13.3, as this section does not have any examples. Randy also noted there is not a section 13.4. Michael shared the bin list and we may need to go through some of the previous drafts. Many of these items have been completed and typos have been corrected. Michael asked about task 14. Bob replied this has been added, but there could be issues with the rules. He has added a rule to this section. Randy suggested to review the Voltage List text, Michael added this to the bin list. Bob to send out EMD draft 9 [AR]. Michael will review item 14 in the bin list [AR]. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be May 13. Randy moved to adjourn. Arpad Muranyi seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: (See BIRD202.1 tracking spreadsheet) IBIS-ISS Parser: - IBIS-ISS parser scope document
