(attaching a text version of the minutes for ease of archiving) ====================================================================== IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ====================================================================== Attendees from May 11 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Cisco David Siadat Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki*, Ming Yan Mentor Graphics Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff SAE ITC Maureen Lemankiewicz, Logen Johnson Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Aveiro in Portugal Wael Dghais Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Arpad Muranyi moved to approve the minutes of the May 4 meeting. Mike LaBonte seconded the motion. No objections were raised and the motion carried. Michael noted that the April 27 minutes were still pending distribution. No other opens were raised. The rest of the meeting focused on “live” editing of Draft 33. Michael noted that some edits were made and were still needed on the introductory sections. The current draft moved [Bus Label] and [Die Supply Pads] to be placed together. Both changes were from Bob Ross. Mike noted that the team hasn’t talked about the problem of forward references. [Interconnect Model Selector] is placed near [Component], but the detailed information on the keyword doesn’t occur until Chapter 13. Bob replied that some violation of Interconnect Model and Component relationships may be needed for clarity. Michael asked whether the introductory definitions now not in the BIRD should be added back to the BIRD. Radek Biernacki noted that cross-checking correctness of definitions will take additional time. Bob added that the introductory diagram is wrong. Further, Table XX needs to be converted to a diagram. Radek added that “NC” isn’t a pin but the diagram suggests so. Michael responded that the diagram is not list of entries, but concepts. Bob added that there are no I/O pins defined in the diagram, and that support is needed for pins with series pin definitions. Mike suggested that “I/O” refers to anything that is a [Model]. What about CIRCUITCALL? He added that a potential solution is that CIRCUITCALL be prohibited. Michael agreed, noting that it’s easier to restrict usage rules initially and loosen them later. Arpad asked whether this would be in parallel with External Circuit or under External Circuit? Mike answered that the question is about co-existence. Arpad asked whether Package and Define Package Model are acceptable to combine with the proposal. Bob replied not. Arpad noted that CIRCUITCALL should also be prohibited. Mike noted that a key problem is that the current rules of precedence define two uncoupled formats taking first precedence, with the second two being coupled. Radek added that, for next time, he is willing to review and comment on the unused terminal section. ARs Mike to look for 1:1 pin-pad-buffer assumptions in the BIRD text. Michael to fix diagram vs. Table XX (e.g., Signal Pins) – the diagram may simply be deleted from the draft. Mike moved to adjourn. Radek seconded. The meeting adjourned.
