================================================================================ IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ================================================================================ Attendees from May 20, 2020 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark* Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak Ifiok Umoh Eric Edwards Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield* Randy Wolff* SiSoft Walter Katz* Mike LaBonte Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Zuken USA Lance Wang Randy Wolff convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Randy called for review of the minutes from the May 13, 2020 meeting. Walter Katz moved to approve the minutes. Bob Ross seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Randy to send out EMD draft10. - Randy reported this was done. Opens: - None. EMD Draft Review: Randy stated we had discussed about half of the changes to Voltage List. He reviewed the changes discussed in the last meeting. One change was to the phrase "found within the EMD Pin List or Designator Pin List". Bob noted we have not yet changed the phrase "tells the parser". Randy noted the lengthy descriptions of the columns are now simplified to match the language for Voltage Range. Arpad asked about the word "provide". Randy noted this is from Voltage Range. Randy asked if the word "list" would be better. Arpad stated the old sentences made more sense to him. Randy reverted the changes to this section. Randy had changed the sentence: "Not all names are required to be listed." to "Not all voltage rail names of signal_names or bus_labels found within EMD Pin List Designator are required to be listed." The sentence that follows was deleted. Randy commented, in the Other Notes section, he had removed some of the repetitive language. He asked if the priority order should be put back in. Bob stated the first bullet should say the SPICE or the EDA tool will provide the voltage source. So, this would be one override. Arpad asked if there is a comma missing or word missing. Randy suggested to change it to "values are not supplied". Bob noted this could be a typical case with extraction tools. Arpad asked what model corner setting means. Randy replied this is the voltage from the model as opposed to the voltage list. Bob commented, if a signal_name is not in the Voltage List, its value has to come from somewhere and would have to come from the model Voltage Range. Bob commented the Voltage List could be used or it could be informational, and there could be conflicts between the models resolved by the voltage list. Bob noted the text looks okay for now, and we can remove the numerical order statement. Bob suggested to leave this open for now. Arpad asked how close we are on this BIRD. Randy replied this section is close to complete. And, the other area requiring significant work is the connection rules. Bob noted the examples are complete, but the rules need to be clarified. The rules can now refer back to the examples. Randy suggested to finish looking at Voltage List. Randy asked about the phrase "are used". Arpad asked if this means these are present in the model. Bob suggested this is a better way of stating this, as the paragraph is about corners. Randy changed the text to say "Voltage List entries shall be correlated with the corresponding corner values in [Model] entries." Arpad asked about the phrase "in the EDA tool". Randy suggested to delete the phrase "in the EDA tool". Arpad asked about the next sentence. Bob commented we expect the min corner to be lower than the max corner. If we select the min corner, we are automatically selecting min corner for everything, and we cannot mix and match voltage corners. Arpad noted it is the usage that needs to be correlated, but this is not what the first sentence is saying. What is missing is that it does not say at simulation time, and it reads more as a directive to the model maker. Arpad suggested to add the phrase "in simulation" to the start of the first sentence. Curtis Clark suggested to change "correlated" to "utilized" or "used". Randy asked if we like "aligned", "used", "correlated", or "utilized". Arpad would like to make it clear voltages cannot be mixed and matched. He suggested to use the word "selected". Randy agreed with "selected". Randy noted we can change the phrase "tells the parser" to "describes". Randy will make the change, and we can review it. Randy stated he has removed some of the red highlighted text. Randy commented the main remaining issues relate to the connection rules. Bob noted the goal of the first two rules is keeping names distinct in the pin list. The forth rule is for the electrical connections, and to state there is no such thing as a short. The connections are identified by the same signal_name. Bob commented the last rule could be illustrated by another example. The electrical connections can span several interfaces. The wording needs to be reviewed. Randy highlighted some text to review further. Randy will send out EMD draft11 [AR]. Randy asked everyone to review the connection rules section. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be May 27. Arpad moved to adjourn. Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: (See BIRD202.1 tracking spreadsheet) IBIS-ISS Parser: - IBIS-ISS parser scope document
