No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the July 1, 2020 meeting. Randy moved to approve the minutes. Arpad seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Randy to send out EMD draft16. - Randy reported this was done. Opens: - Arpad sent an email about a paragraph in EMD that did not make sense. He was not sure if this was on the bin list yet. EMD Draft16 Review: Randy shared the latest draft. We had left off on a comment about adding an example for bus_labels that are unique to each Designator. Michael asked if this would be a comment in an example. Arpad asked if we need a new example. Bob responded this would need a new example, where we have separate bus_labels for VDD1 and VDD2 groups of the VDD signal_name. One of the EMD models could reference the bus_labels. We could expand one of the examples to include this. Randy suggested to add this an item to change in the example. Randy suggested we might want a header for the examples to create a separate section. He proposed this be a section 13.7 called Additional EMD Model Examples. Bob stated, within the EMD Model Set syntax, it should be legal to have U1 to U2 with one EMD Model and a second EMD that model goes from U2 to U3. At the U2 interface we have pin 1 twice, and we mean that these are connected. Randy asked if this is the point at which the EMD models connect. Bob replied, yes, and asked if this is prevented by the rules. He suggested that we support duplicated signal_names that connect the IO pin_names. Randy asked if rule 1.a.iv applies. Bob replied this rule needs to be clarified and expanded to support cascaded EMD model blocks at one interface. He would limit it to two IO pin_names but not three, as we do not want to support branching. Randy asked if the EDA vendors would have any limitations with this. Bob asked if the same rule applies to the Interconnect syntax. Arpad replied Interconnect has the one to one pin to pad requirement. Bob commented the pad_names can exist twice, but IBIS 7.0 may need a change if we have not dealt with this case. Arpad asked if we still need to wordsmith the text we added to various places. Randy replied the first added section is on page 13. Michael commented this statement does not make sense the way it is. Bob asked if it is out of context. Michael stated we have the definition and the syntax usage mixed together. He asked if every possible Designator pin is listed in the pin list. Bob replied this is correct. He suggested to change the "designator pin" to the "pin_name". Randy made this change. Arpad suggested to simplify the sentence to say the reference designator followed by a ".". Randy suggested to change the parenthetical to say "a data book". Michael asked if it is clear what a Designator is and how it is different from the EMD Pin List. Bob replied this could be confusing. Randy asked if we want to add this to the bin list or as a comment in the document. Michael will add this to the bin list. Randy noted there is a comment on page 13 suggesting to change "left-hand" and "right-hand" to "left-side" and "right-side". The group agreed with this change. Randy noted "NC" should be in quotes on page 13. Arpad stated there is another instance of this on page 13. Bob commented there is a difference if we are talking about the reserved word vs. the concept of the signal type. Randy noted there is a comment about upper case and lower case of terms such as Designator Pin vs. designator pin. Michael added this to bin list. Bob recommended to use lower case. Randy noted the next comment is about the rule that all rail pin_names are required to be listed in the pin list. Bob commented the alternative is that we support partial boards. Randy commented the unused pins can be listed as NC. Arpad stated, yesterday, we were leaning toward requiring all the pins. He asked if we can create a similar paragraph for rail pins as for the IO pins, and how much of the IO paragraph can be copied. Randy suggested all but the Aggressor_Only sentence applies. Bob also suggested to expand the usage of NC for unused pins. Arpad suggested to move the part of the paragraph about both IO and rail to the beginning, then have the IO specific statements at the end. Bob suggested to break this up into separate paragraphs for rail and IO. Michael stated we still need to add text for the NC case. Randy will send out EMD draft17 [AR]. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be July 15. Arpad moved to adjourn. Randy seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: (See BIRD202.1 tracking spreadsheet) IBIS-ISS Parser: - IBIS-ISS parser scope document
