Michael Mirmak* Michael Brownell* Keysight Technologies Ming Yan Marvell Steve Parker MathWorks Walter Katz* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield* Randy Wolff* Siemens EDA Arpad Muranyi* ST Microelectronics Aurora Sanna Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Illinois Jose Schutt-Aine Zuken USA Lance Wang* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the June 8, 2022 meeting. Michael displayed the minutes. Arpad Muranyi motioned to approve the minutes. Randy Wolff seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Arpad to give an example of the physical connectivity needed for EMD automation [AR]. - Arpad suggested to keep this AR open. - Arpad to add the TSIRD3 and TSIRD4 changes to the Touchstone specification as a baseline document. - Arpad sent draft 8 to Michael, but there are still editorial questions to discuss. Bob Ross suggested to discuss this draft today. - Arpad will separate the Touchstone 1 and Touchstone 2 sections. - Arpad created a draft for this, but he has not sent it to the reflector yet. - Arpad will add a section for PLS. - Arpad has a draft document with keywords for PLS. Randy noted we wanted to complete the other ARs first. We also need to decide how to handle the keyword sections. Opens: - Bob noted we need to consider TSIRD 4.1. Arpad asked if there are changes to TSIRD4.1 that should be added to the Touchstone draft. Michael replied he can add any TSIRD 4.1 changes to the Touchstone draft. Michael added TSIRD4.1 to the agenda. - Arpad suggested to add the review of the draft separating Touchstone 1 and 2 to agenda. Bob suggested Touchstone 2 evolves into Touchstone 3, as opposed to creating a new section for Touchstone 3. Discussion: Draft separating Touchstone 1 and 2: Arpad did not want to make many changes to the text, as he only wanted to move text to the appropriate section. He added comments on questions to address later. Arpad made chapter like sections for the Touchstone 1, Touchstone 2, and common information. He highlighted the intermingled information between Touchstone 1 and 2. Randy suggested some of the sentences could be moved to different sections. Arpad noted some the text might have to be rewritten. Randy noted the equation on page 10 was not formatted correctly. Arpad noted there are many examples which are intermingled between the Touchstone versions. Randy suggested the network data information may need to be its own section. Arpad noted we need to decide how to handle the intermingled text. Michael asked if we are planning to follow the IBIS specification format. He suggested to add a table of contents as an outline structure for the document. This would help with the organizational details, such as where the examples go. Arpad suggested to have a standalone section for Touchstone 1. Michael asked if we are sending the message that Touchstone 1 is archaic and the Touchstone 2 and beyond is the baseline. Arpad said one big question is about the option line. He would like to get rid of the option line as we have overlap with the [Reference] keyword. Randy stated, once you add PLS, the option line does not make sense. Bob does not view Touchstone 1 as an archived version. Arpad noted the reason for separating the sections is that we want to wrap the original Touchstone 1 data in a keyword section. Arpad will send out the draft separating Touchstone 1 and 2 [AR]. Arpad asked what are the next steps. Randy suggested to separate the examples and work on the network data section. Michael asked if someone wants to create an outline. Arpad asked how much more we would have in the table of contents beyond what he has. Michael stated he wants to compare with the IBIS specification sections. Arpad suggested to work on this as we review the document. Bob stated we may want sections for the PLS and other features. Touchstone Draft 8: Randy noted this document has TSIRD3 and TSIRD4 changes, but there are no other structural changes. Arpad noted in the appendix there are many examples in the text, and he asked if these should be italicized. Michael suggested we should follow a style guide from IEEE or SAE. Randy noted, as an example, page 9 mentions "N11", "N21", "N12", and "N22". Randy noted there is a mix of formating in the document. Bob suggested the numbers should be subscripts and not italicized. Michael asked if someone could send out the style guide. Bob suggested to use the IEEE style guide. Randy found an IEEE style guide and sent a link in chat. https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.ieee.org_content_dam_ieee-2Dorg_ieee_web_org_conferences_style-5Freferences-5Fmanual.pdf&d=DwIGAg&c=nKjWec2b6R0mOyPaz7xtfQ&r=DcQR-qLpQg5lIreuM6-NYECRIAFXt268PRNS5WO043M&m=h0NIbSDMYtyjK6zivxvYFY2AfiOf_RWRJnh31gdqtzzs__EPdLqgSmyjQUhtfVs3&s=kU_GQRMW5IOFwTLtSr3uv61BqHp--cAFQed4iYD2F0w&e= Michael suggested this is a good reference. Bob asked about the subscripts. Michael replied subscripts are on page 5 of the style reference manual. Michael asked how much of the editorial work we want to do here vs. in the Editorial committee. Arpad suggested we wanted to do as much as possible to make the work simpler for the editorial committee. Randy noted there are many equations in the appendix that need to be rewritten, and the editorial committee will need to work this. Michael noted we also have several technical issues in the bin list. Arpad agreed we should spend time on the technical issues. Michael asked if Arpad is still working on the PLS draft. Arpad replied it is at point where we were wanting to integrate the PLS document into the specification, and we came across the questions about the baseline document. The highest priority should be the separated document, then we can start to add new features. Michael will create an outline for the Touchstone 1 and 2 separated document [AR]. Arpad and Randy will work to review the intermingled text between Touchstone 1 and Touchstone 2 sections [AR]. Arpad motioned to adjourn. Randy seconded. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be July 20. ================================================================================ Bin List: 1. Touchstone 3 2. Pole-residue support for Touchstone 3.
