================================================================================ IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ================================================================================ Attendees from August 28, 2019 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield*, Randy Wolff* SiSoft Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. Justin Butterfield took minutes. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the August 21, 2019 meeting. Randy Wolff moved to approve the minutes. Walter Katz seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Mike LaBonte to come up with text to add the Aggressor_Only rules issue to the IBIS 7.0 known issues list. - Mike had sent this out over email, but it may not be posted yet. Michael asked if we have a known issue document created for IBIS 7.0. Mike stated we will need to create a new one for IBIS 7.0. - Walter sent out draft 15 of the EMD document. He has changed the word "component" to "designator". He restored the [Component Pin List] keyword and renamed it [Designator Pin List]. Opens: - Walter would like to put on the agenda renaming the EMD keywords. IBIS 7.0 Aggressor_Only BIRD status: Bob Ross noted he plans to issue a BIRD on the Aggressor_Only, but it will be sometime in the future. Michael asked if this will take a backseat to the parser development. Bob replied the parser development is the priority, and the BIRD to make this official will come later. EMD Draft 15 Review: Walter noted last week we agreed to support the extended nets functionality. Two ways of handling extended nets were discussed. One method is to used the [Designator Pin List], and the other method is by extracting these nets from uncoupled models. Walter suggested, based on Randy's comments last week, it is best to have the [Designator Pin List] keyword. Bob agreed we should support extended nets to find nets that are logically connected. Michael asked if this is the first mention of extended nets in the IBIS specification. Walter replied it likely is. Walter suggested to rename the EMD keywords to eliminate the confusion with Interconnect Models from BIRD189. Walter listed a table of possible names for the [Electrical Module Group], [Electrical Module Set], and [Electrical Module] keywords. He proposed two alternatives A and B: Alternative A: [EMD Group], [EMD Set], [EMD Model] Alternative B: [EMD Model Group], [EMD Model Set], [EMD Model] Walter made a motion to select from the alternatives. Bob seconded the motion. Bob suggested to do a straw poll. Walter agreed to a straw poll. Bob noted the difference between A and B is the word "model". There were no objections. Straw Poll: Intel - Abstain Mentor - A Micron - Abstain SiSoft - B Teraspeed Labs - A Walter thought alternative B is more consistent with BIRD189, but he would be okay with Alternative A. Walter made a motion to change the keyword names to Alternative A. Arpad Muranyi seconded the motion. There were no objections. Bob stated we might consider renaming the [Define Module] keyword. Walter suggested to have a formal proposal on this. Walter changed the [Component Designator Map] keyword to [EMD Designator Map]. Michael asked if we use the word "designator" in other places. Bob replied we use the word "designator" in EBD. Walter stated there is a definition of "designator" under the [EMD Designator Map] keyword. Michael commented this will need editorial review. Walter added [Designator Pin List] and example back in to the draft. Bob noted we are requiring all the I/O pins to be documented in the pin lists. Walter commented he plans to remove the special rule to determine extended net connectivity. Bob stated for Aggressor_Only we can tag nets in the list of extended nets based on the logical connection. Walter will make the approved changes and send out EMD draft 16 [AR]. Michael asked if the [Component Pin List] keyword question on the bin is resolved. Walter replied this keyword is required for extended nets, and it is now called [Designator Pin List]. Michael asked if we have the necessary text to describe this. Bob noted the keyword is required and all extended nets should be documented by this keyword. IBIS 7.0 Known Issues Document: Mike noted he has created an IBIS 7.0 known issues document with the Aggressor_Only rules issue. Bob suggested that the document should have a statement that there will be a BIRD for this issue. Michael suggested we do not have a formal mechanism for resolving the issues on this list. And, there is no formal owner, but he suggested this can be up to Randy to decide. Mike will send the IBIS 7.0 known issues document to Steve Parker [AR]. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be September 4. Mike moved to adjourn. Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: 1.
