Justin noted Walter should be listed in the attendees. Randy moved to approve the minutes with this correction. Bob seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: - Michael to check if the most recent drafts have been posted to the website. - Michael noted he had difficulty emailing Stephen Parker to help with this [AR]. - Randy will add comments and make the revisions as discussed to the examples. - Randy noted this was covered in draft 25. - Michael will move the definition of designators to section 13. - Michael asked to keep this open [AR]. Opens: - Bob noted he has additional comments he sent over email. Michael stated we can review these. EMD Draft25 Review: Michael shared EMD draft25 with Randy's comments. The first comment was to add the Interconnect Task Group participants to the Requestor list. The next comment on page 3 is about the section labels. Michael added this to the task list. Arpad asked if we are going to renumber the sections in IBIS. Bob recommended renumbering the IBIS sections. We should have separate .ims and .ems sections. Arpad asked if we need to renumber everything. Michael replied we will need to review all the section number references. The next comment is regarding the phrase "the pins of the designators" which should use pin(s). Bob asked if the word "of" should be "for". Randy thought it was okay as is. Michael agreed. Randy commented, on page 7, there is a repetitive sentence. Bob agreed the paragraph is repetitive. Michael asked if there is one version we like better. Randy suggested the sentence on page 6 is better. Michael asked if we can delete the sentence on page 7. Randy agreed with this. Bob suggested to delete the first sentence in the paragraph as well. Randy suggested to move the sentence that starts with "For example ..." to the second paragraph of the introduction. Randy stated the next comment on page 7 is regarding EMD pins and designator pins which have not yet been defined. Michael moved the text for the definitions to this paragraph. Michael asked if we want to get into these details this early. On page 7, Randy asked if the brackets should be used for EMD Model. Michael noted we are not consistent on this. Arpad asked if there are rules for this. Michael replied the convention is to use the brackets when talking about the keyword syntax and no brackets for the concept. Randy commented most of these case are referring to the concept. Michael changed these cases accordingly. Randy commented, on page 7, we have usage rules for the EMD file, and the mention of features is out of place. Michael suggested to add a header for the EMD files section. Randy suggested the sentence "One of the features of an EMD file is to enable the EDA tool to generate all the extended nets." should be moved. Michael asked if there is an introduction to what an EMD file is. Randy replied this is stated before the Usage Rules. Michael moved the introduction text for the EMD file. Randy noted the features sentence discusses extended nets. Arpad agreed the sentence did not make sense. Randy suggested to delete this sentence. Michael agreed and deleted it. Michael asked if we want an introductory sentence for the EMD File section. Randy suggested the sentence we deleted could be a starting point. Bob noted we are starting to use the term "module-level", and we are not clear on the definition of this. Arpad also suggested to remove the phrase "is defined". Randy asked everyone to review this section again. Randy suggested, on page 8, to make ".EMS" lower case. Arpad agreed. Randy noted, on page 9, there is a mistake in the [Description] keyword which refers to EMD Set. Bob also noted the [Begin EMD] keyword should be above [Manufacturer]. Arpad was concerned with mentioning "Electrical Module Description" in the [Description] keyword, as this can be confusing. Randy suggested to use EMD. Arpad suggested to remove the phrase "easily human-readable". Randy commented the [Number Of EMD Pins] keyword should be the number found in the [EMD Pin List]. Michael made this change. Bob asked about the sentence "This does not include the number of designator pins." Michael removed this sentence. On page 9, Randy noted the second column can contain signal_name. Michael added signal_name as a parenthetical. On page 10, Randy noted a typo, where bus_label did not have the underscore. Arpad asked if the separate rule sentences on page 11 can be combined into one paragraph. Bob noted there are subtle differences here. Michael suggested to highlight these sentences to revise later. He will add this to the bin list. Randy asked if we should use the term "define_module" or "define module". Michael noted we use the underscore to indicate it is one column. Michael will send out EMD draft26 [AR]. Next Meeting: The next meeting will be September 30. Arpad moved to adjourn. Randy seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. ================================================================================ Bin List: EMD Comments to be Resolved: (See BIRD202.1 tracking spreadsheet) IBIS-ISS Parser: - IBIS-ISS parser scope document
