================================================================================ IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org ================================================================================ Attendees from October 25, 2023 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Broadcom James Church Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Michael Brownell Keysight Technologies Ming Yan Marvell Steve Parker MathWorks Walter Katz* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield Siemens EDA Weston Beal, Arpad Muranyi*, Randy Wolff* ST Microelectronics Aurora Sanna Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Illinois Jose Schutt-Aine Zuken USA Lance Wang* Michael Mirmak convened the meeting and took minutes. No patents were declared. During the review of October 18 minutes, the team examined Arpad Muranyi's comments over the reflector regarding corrections to "'Arpad noted that his AR regarding research for the phrase "less than allowed" related to noise parameters was still open.' I think I was trying to say that I considered my AR done, because I did ask Vladimir [Dmitriev-Zdorov of Siemens EDA], except that he wasn’t able to answer the question, so the question is still open." Arpad also found two typographical errors: “Randy Wolff asked whether, regarding normalization for noise parameters whether [sic] the existence” “Randy suggesting [sic] ignoring the issue” Arpad moved to approve the minutes with these changes; Lance Wang seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. During AR review, Michael noted that his ARs regarding Sam Chitwood's inductance loop and referencing presentations, plus his AR regarding Pete Pupalaikis's compression algorithms for network parameters, are still in progress. Michael added that he has an AR to ensure Steve Parker is posting relevant documents to the IBIS Interconnect Task Group page. [AR] All other ARs closed. Michael opened the discussion of the Touchstone 2.1 draft. He summarized the key changes, including updates to at least one equation and minor formatting changes to the multiple resistance syntax descriptions. Arpad asked about updating all the equations. Michael confirmed that all of the equations use a more modern format. The team made additional edits to italicization throughout the document. Arpad mentioned that it would be nice to announce Touchstone 2.1 at the upcoming summit meetings. Michael took an AR to research Gonzalez's book to see if any reference to it should be added to the draft, regarding noise parameters. [AR] Arpad moved to send the Touchstone 2.1 draft for distribution to the IBIS Open Forum for approval. As a point of order, Arpad asked about when any Gonzalez information would be added. Michael suggested this could be done during Open Forum review. Arpad asked about the copyright and registered trademark notations. Michael and Randy noted that they appeared to be correct, but that the specifics should be reviewed with SAE ITC legal. Walter Katz seconded the motion. The motion was approved without objection. Michael took the AR to send the document to the reflector. [AR] Arpad will provide an update on pole-residue formats for next time. He stated that the technical content is complete but the formatting needs to be revised. Walter added that he believed just one meeting would be necessary to decide between the formats. Arpad moved to adjourn; Bob seconded. The meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be held November 1, 2023. ================================================================================ Bin List: 1) [Complete draft Touchstone document separating version 1.0 and 2.0 into their own chapters] - REMOVED 2) Create structures to encapsulate Touchstone 1.0 data in Touchstone 2+ specifications - TABLED 3) Complete draft Touchstone 2.0 document containing TSIRD3 and TSIRD4 draft (Muranyi) – COMPLETED IN DRAFT 10 4) Complete pole-residue format BIRD draft (Muranyi) 5) Complete port naming proposal (Katz) 6) Create alternatives to the Touchstone 1.0 option line before the "R" character - TABLED 7) Complete ISS-IRD 1 Draft - Enable Cascading of S-parameters Through W-element (Mirmak) - TABLED 8) Complete/revise Touchstone 3.0 draft outline (Mirmak) – dependent on several items above Tabled ARs: - Arpad to give an example of the physical connectivity needed for EMD automation.
