================================================================================ IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP http://www.ibis.org/interconnect_wip/ Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org Archives at http://www.freelists.org/archive/ibis-interconn/ ================================================================================ Attendees from November 22 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark Cadence Design Systems Bradley Brim Cisco David Siadat Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak* Keysight Technologies Radek Biernacki, Ming Yan Mentor, A Siemens Business Arpad Muranyi* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield, Randy Wolff* SAE ITC Maureen Lemankiewicz, Logen Johnson Signal Integrity Software Walter Katz*, Mike LaBonte* Teraspeed Labs Bob Ross* University of Aveiro in Portugal Wael Dghais Michael Mirmak convened the meeting, and agreed to take minutes. Sharing of presentation material was unfortunately disabled. Review of Minutes: - Michael called for review of the minutes from the November 15 meeting. Randy Wolff moved to approve the minutes. Mike LaBonte seconded. The minutes were approved without objection. Review of ARs: Michael had asked Walter Katz and Bob Ross to write concise statements of the rules for Interconnect Model Sets and Groups. This was completed, as both Walter and Bob provided their statements to the reflector before the meeting. - Michael noted he did receive some comments in an email from Radek Biernacki on the File_TS0 and File_TS issue. He will ask Radek if those comments can be sent out the reflector. This AR was closed, as Radek both provided his comments and participated in extensive discussions on the reflector since the AR was assigned. Review of IBIS-ATM Discussions: Walter noted that IBIS-ATM voted on Nov. 21 to remove File_TS0 from the Interconnect Draft BIRD. Opens: During Opens, Arpad Muranyi asking about how to connect pins, pads, and buffer terminals. Walter responded that one can short everything on a bus label, and one can short a whole signal name. This applies to buffers, pads, or pins, or any combination of them. Bob added that this does not apply to buffer I/Os (Arpad's question was specifically addressing power). Mike mentioned that he was seeing collapsed lines in the agenda (no CR/LF separations). Bob noted that he is not seeing this. Walter noted that the agenda is missing an item: IBIS-ISS should not declare terminals as reference. The agenda itself should therefore read: Terminals as references Groups/Sets resolution Pin Mapping/Bus Label interaction Aggressor handling Editorial fixes Walter added that the team cannot address the Groups/Sets resolution without being able to share documents "live". He further noted that the Aggressor discussion can be included in the Groups/Sets discussion. The meeting can therefore address Pin Mapping & Reference issues. Arpad noted that another baseline draft is needed (1) to remove File_TS0 and (2) to remove Reference comments from Examples. Walter agreed. He suggested postponing the terminals/reference discussion until that draft is available. Bob agreed. Bob volunteered to create a new baseline draft. [AR] Bob will also fix "IBIS-ISPICE" typographical errors in the document. Walter moved to changing "Interconnect Model Set Group" to "Interconnect Model Group". Bob seconded, noting that the specification text becomes awkward when addressing 3- to 4-word keywords without brackets. English commonly uses dashes to connect adjectives and nouns. The motion carried without objection. Pin Mapping/Bus Labels Walter stated that how Pin Mapping/Bus Labels interact is clear in IBIS 6.1. Bob's presentation restates what BIRD189 and IBIS 6.1. No text changes required, according to Walter; we can publish explanation (viz, Bob's presentation) without difficulty. Bob replied that his document also includes text to be included in BIRD189. His is a clarification proposal to show that everything interacts with each other, though Bus Label can be derived from several different sources that affect Pin Mapping. The text was part of a reflector e-mail attachment, dated Aug. 31. The additional text should appear under "Other Notes" under the Die Pads definition. Randy forwarded the original text to the reflector. Bob to send out updated text to the Interconnect reflector for review. [AR] A universal AR was assigned to the attendees to review Bob's language before the next meeting. [AR] Mike received an AR to highlight any differences between the version 3 of Draft 10 and the mainline Draft 10 posted to the archive. Mike completed this before the meeting ended. Groups, Sets, Terminals and Referencing Walter noted that the Terminals/Referencing issue will partially be fixed in Draft 11. He added that, to set the stage for Groups/Sets resolution, the rules should apply to a larger list of models. Rules differ based on whether Aggressors are involved or not. He interprets Bob's proposal to have rules on models within a set. Bob noted that this was a fair summary, but his proposal changes Sets to be less limited. Sets would be constrained to certain boundaries. Buffer-to-pin should be one interconnect model. Walter stated that his own proposal defined no rules on models within a set. People can organize models within a set. Bob replied that no rules should be imposed related to the Aggressors tag. Bob will use Draft 10, Version 4, accept the changes and use for Draft 11. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday November 29. Bob Ross's language regarding interactions between Pin Mapping and Bus Labels will be reviewed. Bob Ross moved to adjourn. Arpad Muranyi seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection. Task List BIRD189.5 editorial additions/changes to be completed: 1. File_TS0 and File_TS referencing warning language. 2. Remove the word "reference" from the IBIS-ISS examples.
