He works on high speed products for Cadence. He is joining as another representative for Cadence. Ray Anderson joined the meeting as a new member as well. Ray is a signal integrity engineer with Xilinx. He works on advanced packaging and will be getting Xilinx's model library up to date in respect to packaging parasitics. CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.0 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that there is no update of membership numbers since the last report. The invoicing list for 2005 is being assembled by GEIA, and invoices will be sent out shortly. Michael encouraged everyone to be sure that contact information is correct as listed on the IBIS website. Invoices will be received by email from Marina Spivey of GEIA. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the November 19, 2004 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes of the meeting were approved without change. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported that Xilinx has been added to the roster as a new member for 2005. Poster changes have been sent to GEIA and should be up within a day. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE Michael Mirmak reported for Lance Wang that GEIA has received an updated model library page with one company added with a new model link. The change will be posted shortly. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES Bob Ross requested that a discussion ensue on the IBIS Committee funding model as an overview for new members. Bob explained that funding is through dues with most going to cover GEIA dues. GEIA creates an IBIS assessment of about $18,000 per year that is used by the IBIS committee during the year to pay for various expenses. Parser development requires additional money, but conferences are covered by dues and sponsors. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION No update. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS Michael Mirmak reported on work group relations with IEEE/DASC on VHDL-AMS and Accellera on Verilog-AMS. There is a possibility of an introduction to IBIS at an upcoming Accellera Verilog-AMS meeting. There have been positive responses so far from both groups on continuing IBIS interaction with them. SUMMITS - DesignCon IBIS Summit, January 31, 2005, Santa Clara, CA DesignCon 2005 will take place January 31 - February 3, with a Summit scheduled for Monday, January 31. Syed Huq mentioned sending out the first call for papers. Syed reported that five people signed up, but a quick poll at the meeting indicated an estimate of 15 people so far with many more to sign up later. The luncheon involvement deadline is January 15. DesignCon must be notified on this date of the number of IBIS attendees that will be eating lunch. Michael Mirmak mentioned that a short IBIS description will be in the DesignCon booklet as well as other publications. Michael is unsure of the booth location. Refreshments are still being discussed with DesignCon. - DATE European IBIS Summit, March 11, 2005, Munich, Germany DATE 2005 will take place in Munich, with a Summit planned for Friday, March 11. Ralf Bruening of Zuken is making arrangements for the room and other logistics. An update is needed from Ralf. - JEITA Asian IBIS Event, March 24, 2005, Tokyo, Japan Michael Mirmak reported that JEITA members are still in the planning stages. JEITA would like to have an IBIS related event, but they want it to be a closed meeting and not a summit. There has been a proposal to make IBIS attendees guests of JEITA as IBIS delegates. Sponsorship opportunities for all these Summits are still available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS ANSI BALLOT STATUS Randy Wolff reported that the IBIS 3.2 reapproval ballots are due December 23. GEIA has sent out one reminder email, and one more email will be sent before the ballot closes. It was mentioned that only IBIS committee voting members vote on the ballot. Multiple people from a member company may vote; however, the vote of only one member of each organization will be counted. This voting member is identified by GEIA. Michael Mirmak mentioned that he had received a spreadsheet from GEIA showing current vote tallies and indicating member companies with invalid email addresses. It was determined that the IBIS committee will need to update as many of the invalid email addresses as possible and ensure that these members receive their ballots. Randy, Michael, and Bob Ross took the AR on this. S2IBIS3 STATUS No update. S2IBIS3 beta executables can be downloaded from: http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/erl/ibis/s2ibis3/s2ibis3.htm Feedback on the current version is appreciated and encouraged. IBIS VERSION 4.1 PARSER STATUS Bob Ross reported that most issues have been resolved and closed with respect to how John Powell will interpret the specification. There are three or four more issues to raise on how to interpret the specification given how the parser has been developed. Bob may be developing BIRDs to close these issues. The parser is still on schedule for release early next year. ICM SPECIFICATION AND PARSER STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that Kelly Green is addressing a bug reported in the parser. There have been 8 IIRDs filed, with 5 approved, 1 rejected, and 2 pending. Michael proposed cutting off the changes allowed with IIRD8.1 in order to finish the parser and move forward with ICM 1.1 approval and ANSI/GEIA balloting to make it an official standard. The committee is in agreement with Michael's proposal. Lynne Green mentioned that we should encourage people to make some ICM models to see how people are interpreting the specification. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Bob Haller reported that the committee met December 7 and continues to meet on the first Tuesday of each month. An action item from the last meeting is for each committee member to contact one vendor about beta testing the checklist. The committee is also trying to figure out ways to automate the checklist. Mike LaBonte has generated a list of checks to submit as parser bugs. Bob Ross proposed a command line switch in the parser to generate extra cautions as suggested by the quality checklist. IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE Lynne Green reported receiving questions from ST Microelectronics. Lynne would like to encourage that people use a parser version that is newer than 3.2.7, such as 4.0.2. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that both committees met last Thursday and continue to meet every two weeks. The Cookbook committee's latest cookbook draft includes revisions to the [Pin Mapping] and [Series *] descriptions. A major overhaul to the clamp curves section is in progress. The Futures committee discussed parser issues of IBIS 4.1 and the hierarchy of [External Model], [External Circuit], and [Model] keywords as well as integration of ICM. Some BIRDs will be introduced soon. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES None. BIRD92.1: MULTIPLE TERMINATOR AND SERIES ELEMENTS UNDER [MODEL] Michael Mirmak reported that a question arose recently on how [On] and [Off] keywords are treated with respect to [Model] type Series and not just Series_switch. Michael said that this will need to be thoroughly checked before voting on the BIRD. Voting was postponed. BIRD93.1: MODEL AND SIGNAL NAME LIMIT EXTENSION Michael Mirmak summarized the BIRD. It lengthens model_name and signal_name fields from 20 to 40 characters. The added length of these fields still fits within the 120 character line length limit. Donald Telian was concerned with implementation of this in tools. Increasing the number of characters could require lengthening of fields in GUI boxes. Michael mentioned making suggestions in the cookbook to keep names as short as possible. A vote was called for and seconded. Pursuant to GEIA rules, the vote tally per organization is now recorded in the minutes. The BIRD was approved with the following vote tally: Cadence Design Systems - abstain Intel - yes LSI Logic - yes Mentor Graphics - yes Micron - yes Signal Integrity Software - yes Teraspeed Consulting Group - yes IIRD2.3: FREQUENCY DEPENDENT RLGC MATRICES Vote postponed due to lack of available discussion time. IIRD8.1: DISTINCT MODEL_PINMAP AND MODEL_NODEMAP NAMES Bob Ross reported receiving a comment that the description of the side subparameter needs to be made more clear. The vote was postponed to allow for time to address this comment. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that no BUGs have been filed. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS BUG1: TEXT BLOCK OVERFLOW FOR VERY VERBOSE MODE Michael Mirmak reported the filing of this BUG. The very verbose mode is a mode of the parser used for debugging. The length of certain text blocks in the model cause the parser to crash. It was determined that no interim release of the parser is needed to fix this BUG. The BUG can be fixed along with other IIRDs in the next official release. The BUG report was classified as Open, Moderate, with Medium priority. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None.
