JEITA has requested some IBIS participation, however the event is closed. There will be some discussion and a brief presentation on this at the DesignCon Summit. Sponsorship opportunities for all these Summits are still available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS ANSI BALLOT STATUS Randy Wolff reported that he is awaiting an official response from GEIA on the final vote tally for the IBIS 3.2 reballot vote. The vote tallying is slow due to a GEIA meeting. Randy confirmed for Michael Mirmak that project initiation forms had been filed for balloting of the ICM specification and a future IBIS release when they are ready. S2IBIS3 STATUS Bob Ross reported that he had contacted Ambrish Varma privately, and Ambrish was planning on looking into clamp issues and the algorithm to correctly subtract out the clamp characteristics for all model types. S2IBIS3 beta executables can be downloaded from: http://www.ece.ncsu.edu/erl/ibis/s2ibis3/s2ibis3.htm Feedback on the current version is appreciated and encouraged. IBIS VERSION 4.1 PARSER STATUS Bob Ross reported no further progress. He mentioned there might be a few technical issues to deal with before closing this issue. ICM SPECIFICATION AND PARSER STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that the last two IIRDs being voted on today will be the final IIRDs integrated into the ICM 1.1 specification. Lynne Green reported that Kelly Green will be starting work this weekend on the parser updates, and it will be two weeks to a beta release. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Bob Haller reported that the committee is meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be February 8th, but it may be pushed out a week. The committee is identifying what holes exist between what the parser checks and what it could check. The discussion at the last meeting was about categorizing which checks are not in the parser and whether or not they should be warnings or cautions. Kim Helliwell will present an update at the IBIS Summit. IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE Lynne Green reported no new models this month. She said it would be good to mention this at the DesignCon Summit. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that there was a brief meeting of both committees yesterday. The Cookbook committee has major changes underway on the differential section. It is not committing to a specific date of distribution except to say that it is scheduled for release in Q2 2005. A brief presentation on cookbook history to include what has changed since the 1997 edition will be done at DesignCon. The Futures committee deferred discussion on specific BIRDs until the Summit. The committee discussed where to set the boundary between the IBIS 4.2 and IBIS 5.0 specifications. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES None. IIRD2.3: FREQUENCY DEPENDENT RLGC MATRICES Michael Mirmak summarized the IIRD. It introduces the keyword [Frequency] and makes minor changes to matrix rules relating to frequency. It also adds appropriate example in the specification without making any large technical changes. It will be added to ICM 1.1. A vote was called for. The IIRD passed unanimously with the following vote tally: Ansoft - yes Cisco - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Samtec - yes SiSoft - yes Teraspeed - yes IIRD8.3: DISTINCT MODEL_PINMAP AND MODEL_NODEMAP NAMES Bob Ross summarized the IIRD. IIRD8.3 is a syntax change that adds a new subparameter to Model_pinmap and Model_nodemap to distinguish which one you are referring to within the tree structure or node structure ([Side]). Editorial revisions were made to help explain this. Arpad Muranyi noted that the word "by" was missing in a sentence. Bob will correct this in the posted version. Arpad mentioned that another sentence was worded poorly, but he will address it at a later time. The IIRD will be added to ICM 1.1. A vote was called for. The IIRD passed unanimously with the following vote tally: Ansoft - yes Cisco - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Samtec - yes SiSoft - yes Teraspeed - yes BIRD96: [MODEL SPEC] AND [RECEIVER THRESHOLDS] ORDERING Randy Wolff introduced the BIRD. The IBIS 4.1 parser currently issues an error unless [Model Spec] is specified immediately after all the subparameters of a model and before the other keywords of a model. An error is also issued unless [Receiver Thresholds] is specified immediately after all the subparameters of a model and before the other keywords of a model except [Model Spec]. BIRD96 will align the specification with parser behavior. Arpad Muranyi expressed concern over requiring specific ordering of keywords to match the parser. Bob Ross noted that this is one of the few instances of specific ordering being required by the specification. Either the parser must be fixed or the specification must be fixed. This will be discussed offline by Bob, Randy, and Arpad. BIRD92.1: MULTIPLE TERMINATOR AND SERIES ELEMENTS UNDER [MODEL] Michael Mirmak summarized the BIRD. No parser changes are proposed by this BIRD. There was a call for vote for inclusion of BIRD92.1 into the next edition of the IBIS specification. The BIRD passed unanimously with the following vote tally: Ansoft - yes Cisco - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Samtec - yes SiSoft - yes Teraspeed - yes BIRD94: CLARIFICATIONS ON [DIFF PIN] PARAMETERS Arpad Muranyi summarized the BIRD. Arpad mentioned that Bob Ross had sent him a detailed response. Bob mentioned some cases of asymmetric differential pairs in the automotive industry and other places. Changes to the BIRD will be needed to accommodate this situation. Lynne Green said that [Model Selector] could include different model types, so checking of this could be difficult. Arpad plans to respond to all the comments. BIRD95: POWER INTEGRITY ANALYSIS USING IBIS Syed Huq reported that a presentation will be done at the Summit with lots of data, examples, and time for discussion. Mike Labonte asked when BIRD95.1 would be released. Syed has the revision completed and will send it to Michael Mirmak for review at the Summit. Several comments were made that will be discussed further at the Summit. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that no BUGs were recently filed. Arpad Muranyi mentioned that he has discovered a BUG, but he has not filed it yet. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS None to report. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Summit will be held January 31, 2005 at DesignCon. No telephone bridge is available. An Open Forum teleconference has been scheduled for February 18, 2005 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. A vote is scheduled for BIRD96. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-1046 michael.mirmak@intel.com Senior Analog Engineer, Intel Corporation FM6-45 1900 Prairie City Rd.
