He is an applications engineer at Sigrity. He uses IBIS models in supporting tools at Sigrity. CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that we have 30 members, however, the GEIA is only reporting 29 members. He is working to correct the discrepancy. Michael is also in discussions on plans to bring the budget into balance. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS The last minutes were delayed in being sent out due to delays in getting them approved by GEIA legal. As a result, no votes will be held. Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the August 5, 2005 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes were approved without changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported that the events page has been updated with Asian IBIS Summit information. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that everything is normal. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE No update. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS There continue to be two pending standards under consideration by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) under the technical committee TC47. Each of these standards have links back to IBIS. We are the appropriate committee to review and comment on these documents. The documents are available for technical review from Bob Ross. More information can be found at the following url: http://www.iec.ch The two standards are: IEC62404 I/O Interface Model for Integrated Circuits (IMIC) as 47A/704/CD (committee draft). This is a competing standard with IBIS and is an enhancement to spice languages. Models of Integrated Circuits for EMI Behavioral Simulation 47A/719/NP (new work proposal). This is a follow on to ICEM (ICEM is 62014-3). EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that ANSI officially released a notice of IBIS 3.2 approval. The official date of ratification is August 17, 2005, not July 25, 2005 as noted in the previous minutes. Also, ICM 1.1 balloting began on Wednesday. The GEIA distributed ballots via email to the IBIS Open Forum Committee members. The balloting will close on September 26, 2005. Michael Mirmak reported that we need a 50% response rate, with 2/3 of the respondents voting YES in order for the vote to pass. So far, about 25% of members have responded, with all responses being YES votes. SUMMITS - DesignCon East IBIS Summit DesignCon East will be held in Worcester, Massachusetts from September 19-21, 2005. September 19 will be the IBIS Summit. Bob Ross reported that two announcements have gone out. Official sign ups are minimal at this time, so Bob encouraged people to officially sign up. Booth arrangements are still being finalized. The teleconference is set up. - Asian IBIS Summit December 6, 2005 is the official date of the Summit. It will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen, China near Hong Kong. The steering committee is headed by Jiang Xiang Zhong of Huawei. Financial sponsors include Sigrity, Zuken, Huawei, Cadence, Mentor, and SiSoft. Ian Dodd asked about booth availability at the Summit. Bob Ross said that only tables will be allowed. Sponsorship opportunities for DesignCon East and the Asian IBIS Summit are still available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Bob Ross reported no updates since the last meeting. The next meeting is September 6. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.eda.org/pub/ibis/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE Michael Mirmak reported for Lynne Green that two models have been received recently and are being reviewed. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that there were meetings of both committees yesterday. Futures meetings are being held every week to facilitate BIRD95 discussion. A model provided by Micron is being used for BIRD95 analysis. The committee discussed setting up rules for doing the BIRD95 analysis work. The cookbook draft 6 has been posted to the website. The seventh draft will be posted in the next few days. There were changes made to the clamp section. A vote for approval of the cookbook is scheduled for the next IBIS Open Forum meeting. Michael asked if a public announcement of draft availability should be sent to the email reflectors in the next week. Bob Ross thought that this would be a good idea, especially if minutes are not posted before next Friday. The next meeting is Thursday, September 1 from 9-11 AM PST. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ Draft 7 of the cookbook is available at the following URL for review: http://www.eda.org/ibis/cookbook/ibis-cookbook-review-draft7.pdf MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Arpad Muranyi reported that the committee met on Tuesday. They are making progress on developing the library. They are hoping to show an initial version of the library at the September DesignCon East IBIS Summit meeting. Michael Mirmak mentioned that the group is considered a task group currently by the GEIA. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.sisoft.com/ibis-macro/ NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES None. BIRD95.6: POWER INTEGRITY ANALYSIS USING IBIS Syed Huq reported that initial plans for use of a publicly available model have progressed. A model provided by Micron is being used for simulations. A common package parasitics modeling format needs to be agreed upon for simulations. Syed would like to see a schedule for completion of simulation work. Randy Wolff mentioned that the spice model had been updated to remove references to an ideal ground node. Michael Mirmak asked that everyone agree offline on the parasitics to be used for power and ground connections to the model as well as the simulation conditions. Data will hopefully be presented at the next Futures meeting. There was also discussion on the use of split C_comp in the simulations. Arpad Muranyi mentioned that this should be done in the definition of the b-element in spice, and it could be assumed to be a 50-50 split of C_comp between the power and ground rails. BIRD94.2: CLARIFICATIONS ON [DIFF PIN] PARAMETERS Arpad Muranyi reported that BIRD94.2 is ready for approval vote at the next meeting. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Arpad Muranyi ran simulations based on Antonio Girardi's comments a few weeks ago. There are issues with the use of static tables used in the gate modulation equations not matching to a dynamically switching buffer. Antonio has some suggestions for improvements that Arpad will be looking at. Michael Mirmak asked about presenting more on this BIRD at a Futures meeting. This BIRD will probably be investigated more fully in the Futures meetings once the BIRD95 discussions are completed. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that seven BUGs are not officially closed. Five of these are compilation problems. John Angulo suggested that the Linux compilation related BUG be corrected by someone recompiling the code with an older Linux library. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS No new BUGs have been reported. Michael Mirmak mentioned that the formal license agreements for ICMCHK1 code will available in a week or so. This gives companies the ability to purchase a parser license that bypasses issues with use of a GPL license in commercial software. Parser licenses will be available for $1000. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES Bob Ross mentioned that the BIRD99.1 approval vote during the last meeting means that a few items in the new IBIS version need to be updated. This will be taken care of offline. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held September 16, 2005 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. Votes are scheduled for BIRD94.2 and approval of draft 7 of the cookbook. The next IBIS Summit will be held September 19, 2005. A teleconference has been arranged. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-1046 michael.mirmak@intel.com Senior Analog Engineer, Intel Corporation FM6-45 1900 Prairie City Rd.
