When calling into the meeting, provide the bridge number and passcode at the automated prompts. If asked by an operator, please request to join the IBIS Open Forum hosted by Michael Mirmak. For international dial-in numbers, please contact Michael Mirmak. NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. --------------------------------MINUTES----------------------------------- INTRODUCTIONS AND MEETING QUORUM Kim Helliwell of LSI Logic introduced himself. He works in a packaging group doing simulation and modeling. Bob Haller has joined the core routing group at Enterasys Systems. Bob is a model user now instead of a model builder. CALL FOR PATENTS Syed Huq called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Syed Huq reported that membership invoices for 2006 have been sent out by GEIA. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Syed Huq reviewed the minutes of the November 18, 2005 IBIS Open Forum teleconference and the December 6, 2005 Asian IBIS Open Forum Summit meeting. Bob Ross requested adding Ke Xu's name under Cadence in the Asian summit minutes. The minutes were approved with these changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported that the DesignCon date has been updated and the Asian IBIS summit has been moved to the bottom of the events page. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that everything is running normally, but there have been a lot of bounces from AOL accounts. These accounts may need to be dropped. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE No update. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS There continue to be two pending standards under consideration by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) under the technical committee TC47. Each of these standards have links back to IBIS. We are the appropriate committee to review and comment on these documents. The documents are available for technical review from Bob Ross. More information can be found at the following url: http://www.iec.ch The two standards are: IEC62404 I/O Interface Model for Integrated Circuits (IMIC) as 47A/704/CD (committee draft). This is a competing standard with IBIS and is an enhancement to spice languages. Models of Integrated Circuits for EMI Behavioral Simulation 47A/719/NP (new work proposal). This is a follow on to ICEM (ICEM is 62014-3). EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff mentioned that the ICM 1.1 specification was officially approved as a GEIA standard. The standard has begun the ANSI approval process, and we should hear more about its status next month. Randy briefly discussed turning the Cookbook version 4 into an engineering bulletin. Syed Huq suggested that we discuss this further in the next Futures meeting, as Michael Mirmak probably has more information about how we would handle having copies of the cookbook on our website. SUMMITS - Asian IBIS Summit The Summit was held December 6, 2005 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Shenzhen, China near Hong Kong. Bob Ross commented that it went very well. The Summit minutes included a link to the summit website. This site now has pictures posted. The IBIS committee leadership and the Summit sponsors had lunch with 4 reporters representing three Chinese eda papers. 13 presentations were kept on schedule. 155 people attended officially. Syed Huq mentioned that Lance Wang did an excellent job of translating the presentations from Chinese to English and vice versa. The booklet printing worked very well. Bringing in a higher level government official brought up attendance. Syed thanked Bob for all his work in planning the summit. - DesignCon The DesignCon Summit will be held Thursday February 9, 2006 in Santa Clara, California. Fred Balistreri will handle the registration. Bob Ross mentioned that Cisco will be a primary sponsor of the event. It is planned to setup the IBIS booth for Tuesday and Wednesday. Booth setup will need to be coordinated with Mentor. Kim Helliwell may be able to help out with booth setup. Bob is the main contact for paper ideas. - DATE Bob Ross reported that Ralf Bruening is in charge of organizing the DATE summit, and he has sent out the first announcement. It will be Friday, March 10, 2006. Eckhard Lenski mentioned that room arrangements are being made. - Other Bob Ross mentioned that there are opportunities for other summits in Asia currently being talked about. Sponsorship opportunities for DesignCon and DATE are still available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Bob Ross reported that Mike Labonte will serve as a temporary chair during the transition of Bob Haller leaving as the chair. There was a meeting December 13, and meetings are occurring once a month. January 10 will be the next meeting. They are still discussing caution statements. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.ibis-information.org/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE Lynne Green reported that no new models have come in. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Syed Huq reported that there will be a meeting next week. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Bob Ross reported that the last meeting was cancelled. There is involvement of a NCSU student to do some AMS coding now. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.ibis-information.org/macromodel_wip/ NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES None. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT No discussion. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. BIRD100: ALLOW ANALOG-ONLY *-AMS MODEL TERMINALS Bob Ross reviewed the BIRD briefly. He mentioned perhaps adding more examples to the BIRD of VHDL coding, as there were two notes in the BIRD about this possibility. Ian Dodd was not enthusiastic about adding more examples, but he will work with Arpad Muranyi to add an example. BIRD101: SECTION 6B, FIGURE 12 EXAMPLE NOTE Bob Ross reported that the purpose of the BIRD is to add one note above Figure 12 documenting that some of the material in Figure 12 is not part of the current specification. There are some pad to pin connections in the figure in anticipation of ICM linkage, however this linkage is not part of the specification currently. This BIRD would be cleanup for IBIS version 4.2. This BIRD will be put up for a vote at the next IBIS Open Forum meeting. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS No update. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Lynne Green reported that there was previously a request to look at saving the ICMCHK1 output to a file. She said that details of this are addressed in the help file. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held January 6, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. A vote is scheduled on BIRD101. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-1046 michael.mirmak@intel.com Senior Analog Engineer, Intel Corporation FM6-45 1900 Prairie City Rd.
