CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that he has received updates from GEIA. Sixteen membership payments have been received so far. Michael reminded others to please return their membership renewal payments. Total income so far for the year is about $12000. There have been very few expenses so far. The target is 32 members this year. The final 2005 audit results will not be released for about another week. Toshiba has joined officially as a new member now. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the March 10, 2006 DATE IBIS Summit and the March 10, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes were approved without changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported that there have been several updates to the roster. The new s2ibis3 code has been updated on the tools page. Bob Ross mentioned that we might want to add a link to the free IBISIndicator program that was mentioned at the DATE IBIS Summit. The link for IBISIndicator for request of a free license is: http://www.edaconnect.co.jp/index-e.html At this time the download link does not work but you can get a copy of the code by e-mail. This is apparently sold from the distributer EDAconnect, even though it originated from KAW/Japan. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that everything is normal. Michael Mirmak noted that we have two mailing lists, but membership is very similar between both lists. Michael suggested that we put administrative materials only on the ibis list - as it was intended originally. Bob proposed that we send the minutes and other administrative issues to the ibis reflector starting with the next set of minutes. It was noted that some people subscribe only to the ibis-users list so that they will not see administrative emails. To keep with the original intention of the two mailing lists, the meeting minutes and other administrative emails will be sent in the future to only the ibis list. It will not be enforced with mailing list members to email to the correct lists, but IBIS officers will follow these guidelines. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE No update. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES Bob Ross asked that we begin a brief discussion of the DAC conference and DATE 2007. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS Bob Ross had no new report. Michael Mirmak mentioned that we are still discussing with GEIA potential IEC involvement. EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES No update. SUMMITS - DATE The DATE summit was held Friday, March 10, 2006 in Munich, Germany. Arpad Muranyi reported that there were about 26 or so people in attendance. The presentations were very high quality with good discussions. A wide variety of topics were discussed. There was a lot of interest in the AMS languages. Arpad enjoyed seeing the presentation on the IBISIndicator tool that is another tool to help people develop IBIS models. Arpad Muranyi mentioned that he attended a presentation on creating a library to support table models in Verilog-AMS. This functionality is currently not supported in the language, but it would be very useful to model making. Siemens, Zuken, and Mentor were the sponsors for the Summit. - DAC DAC will be held July 24-28, 2006 in San Francisco. The Summit is planned for July 25. Syed Huq will be in charge of registrations. Bob Ross asked John Angulo to see if Mentor will be able to arrange for a meeting room. - DATE 2007 Bob Ross discussed that DATE 2007 will be held in Nice, France. We will need to investigate either finding local support to sponsor the summit in Nice or hold it in Munich, Germany instead. - Summits in Asia Michael Mirmak reported that there are discussions taking place about possible summits in China and Japan. It is very likely that there will be at least one summit this year. Bob Ross said that the interest in a China Summit is very solid. There is money already available for partial sponsorship of this summit. Shanghai is the likely location. It could be held as early as September. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Mike Labonte reported that the committee has issued a parser BUG report related to checks of non-monotonic curves. They are currently revisiting the level rating system for quality and improved usability and adoption of the specification. They are having meetings every two weeks. The next one is April 11. Everyone is welcome to join and sign up for the ibis quality reflector. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.ibis-information.org/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE No update. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that both committees have been meeting every Thursday. There was an update from Lynne Green yesterday on a proposed update to the cookbook version 4. In the Futures committee, Randy Wolff reviewed a draft BIRD on adding [Model Spec] parameters to address overshoot parameters needed for DDR2 specifications. There has also been discussion on ICM and IBIS linking and the IBIS 4.2 document. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ The Cookbook version 4 is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/ibis/cookbook/cookbook-v4.pdf MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Michael labonte summarized the most recent activity as taking steps to create a BIRD95 model using the macromodel library. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.ibis-information.org/macromodel_wip/ NEW ISSUES None. IBIS 4.2 DRAFT Michael Mirmak introduced the second reading of the IBIS 4.2 specification draft. Arpad Muranyi asked how to address the changes to be made in terms of updating the work in progress document. Bob Ross said that some minor changes have been made, but there are still some proposed changes that need to be discussed further. Arpad said that he would like to update the text document only until all the changes have been finalized before creating a new pdf document. Bob said that in the work-in-progress directory, there is a new folder containing emails documenting changes to be made and a text file with some of these changes made to it. There will be a third reading April 21, and potentially a vote in May. The latest IBIS 4.2 draft is available at the following url: http://eda.org/pub/ibis/ver4.2_wip/rev_1/ver4_2_1.txt BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Arpad met with Katja Koller and Manfred Maurer for nearly a full day after the DATE Summit. Arpad needs to now run some more experiments to investigate transistor switching under noisy circumstances. Michael Mirmak asked if we still needed two BIRDs to address this. Arpad responded that he would need to finish his experiments before knowing if additions to the original BIRDs are possible or if a new BIRD is needed. Arpad hopes to have the issues settled before the next summit. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Mike Labonte introduced BUG94. Currently, there are two IBIS checkers in the ibischk program - one checks individual curves, another checks combined curves. The BUG asks that a combined curve checker be applied to all IBIS files regardless of the IBIS version in the file. Also, it proposes that the individual curve checker be run as well as the combined checker, and that the results of the individual curve checker be issued as a note instead of a warning. Arpad Muranyi proposed that a better reporting option would be to report the voltage at which a non-monotonic point occurs. This would be adequate for debugging the model. The voltage could be reported as ground relative or vcc relative. Mike Labonte said that he would like to discuss the BUG further at the next Quality meeting and potentially resubmit it with changes. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak mentioned that no new BUGs have been filed. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES Michael Mirmak briefly discussed proposed additions for IBIS 5.0 including ICM to IBIS linking, gate modulation, a potential BIRD to address voltage referencing issues, and a [Model Spec] change to address the DDR2 overshoot specification. Arpad mentioned looking at other specification documents to perhaps investigate using different formatting in IBIS 5.0. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held April 21, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-79 1900 Prairie City Rd.
