CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that there has been no change in membership since the last meeting. Membership stands at 17 members, but we are still receiving renewals. There have been few expenses this year, so the account balance is good. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the April 21, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes were approved without changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported changing the secondary contact for Cisco. No other changes have been made. Bob Ross mentioned an article on IBIS 4.1 in EE Times Asia from Gary Pratt of Mentor that could be linked to the press page. It was decided not to link to this article on the web page. The article can be found at the following url: http://www.eetasia.com/ARTICLES/2005SEP/B/2005SEP16_DT_TA.pdf Mike Labonte requested that a link to the list of parser BUGs be put on the website somewhere. Syed Huq will look for a spot to add this link to the webpage. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that things are normal. Michael Mirmak inquired on how the separation of ibis and ibis-users lists is going. Bob replied that this seems to be working fine. Mike Labonte reported that he is still having trouble with a spammer sending mail to him through the ibis-bug mailing list. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE Michael Mirmak reported that Intel may be added to the list of ICM model supporters. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS Bob Ross had no report on the IEEE workshop on Signal Propagation on Interconnects (SPI) conference. He mentioned that the IEEE EMC conference is Aug 14-18 in Portland, Oregon. There may be peripheral interest in IBIS. More information on the conference can be found at the following url: http://www.emc2006.org/ Michael Mirmak reported that the VHDL-AMS language reference manual is in review now per the IEEE process through the end of May. It is relatively easy to join in order to have influence over the document. IEEE 1076.1 is the subcommittee. EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that as soon as the IBIS Open Forum votes on release of the IBIS 4.2 specification, it will be ready to start the GEIA balloting process for standardization within about one week. The balloting process will take about 30 days. Michael Mirmak mentioned that he is trying to contact international folks for approval of specifications through IEC, but he is having trouble with this. SUMMITS - DAC DAC will be held July 24-28, 2006 in San Francisco. The Summit is planned for July 25. John Angulo reported that Mentor facilities is now planning for use of a conference room, and he should hear specifics in the next few weeks. Bob Ross mentioned that this will be the election of officers meeting, so anyone interested in serving should contact committee members. - Summits in Asia Bob Ross reported that they found a conflict with the previously scheduled day of the Chinese IBIS summit. The summit is now planned to be Friday, October 27 in Shanghai. The Japan IBIS summit will need to be rescheduled for Tuesday, October 24 in Tokyo. Sponsorship opportunities for DAC and other summits are available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Mike Labonte reported that the committee has consistently had a couple of new attendees, Roy Leventhal and Moshiul Haque. They are reworking the level categorization system. Some things IBIS Quality is requiring are optional in IBIS, so they are investigating what can really be required. There may become more categories of quality. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.ibis-information.org/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE No update. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that the Cookbook was discussed at the last meeting. There were still updates to make to the V-t curves section. There was discussion on continually making minor changes to the document as needed versus only making major updates. The Futures group discussed encryption and BIRD103.1. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ The Cookbook version 4 is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/ibis/cookbook/cookbook-v4.pdf MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Mike Labonte reported that a few new people are in the group, and this is making a difference. They had determined that the macromodel approach to modeling new technology was looking ok, but when investigating new designs in play, the macromodel approach may have difficulties to work through. The group is searching for a way to take advantage of the plug-and-play of IBIS models while adding the capability to do advanced buffer modeling. Mike mentioned that the committee has been discussing encryption as well. Michael Mirmak mentioned that the discussion of encryption should be done in one group, since the Futures committee has been discussing it as well. Bob Ross mentioned that a guest will be joining the macromodel call on Tuesday to discuss encryption. Bob suggested that the discussion be moved to the macromodel committee. Mike agreed that this is a good discussion forum. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.ibis-information.org/macromodel_wip/ IBIS 4.2 DRAFT Michael Mirmak issued the final call for comment on the IBIS 4.2 specification. Bob Ross reported that the version with the latest editorial comments addressed is in the rev_2 directory . Section 6b figure captions have been added, verbiage is changed in the EBD section to change inductance and capacitance to Farads and Henries to be consistent with the rest of the document, and RLC matrix notes are updated. The file editorial_changes_2.txt lists these changes. The file reject_defer_2.txt lists suggested changes that were not addressed. Michael scheduled June 2 for a call for vote. Mike Labonte requested a link to the document be put on the website. Syed Huq took the AR to add this. Bob took the AR to put together an official document for voting purposes. The latest IBIS 4.2 draft is available at the following url: http://www.eda.org/pub/ibis/ver4.2_wip/rev_2/ver4_2_2.txt NEW ISSUES None. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT No update. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. BIRD103: [MODEL SPEC] DDR2 OVERSHOOT/UNDERSHOOT PARAMETERS Randy Wolff summarized changes to the BIRD. There was confusion on the overshoot area being shown as a triangle in the JEDEC specification as well as in the example drawing in the BIRD. A sentence was added to the BIRD to clarify that the overshoot area is true are-under-the-curve and not an arbitrary triangular area. Randy also mentioned that this could be better shown if the drawings could be done in non-ascii format to show shading. There was no objection to the changes. The BIRD will be scheduled for a vote at the next meeting. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Mike Labonte updated the text to BUG 94. He incorporated the suggestion of having warning reports specify the voltage ranges over which non-monotonic points were found when combined I-V curves are checked. Mike asked that the BUG be classified now. It was classified as Enhancement, Low, and Open. The fix will be applied to version 4 parsers and above. IBISCHK4 checks correctly version 4.0 IBIS models, but the BUG asks that this combined I-V curve checking to be applied to older versions of IBIS models. Michael Mirmak reported that the draft version of the IBIS 4.2 parser currently addresses BIRD93 and BIRD102 and checking for the 4.2 file version. Also, it will address BUG82 and BUG89. BUG85 was fixed in an earlier version but was not noted correctly on the website. John Angulo is trying to find time to add support to the parser for the VHDL-A(MS) and Verilog-A(MS) languages. Bob mentioned that priority should be placed on fixing BUG93, but this could be done after the parser release. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak mentioned that no new BUGs have been filed. Work is ongoing in the Futures committee looking at extensions to the Touchstone format to support larger models. Sam Chitwood asked for any comments related to his questions on Touchstone files. Michael suggested that he bring this up in the Futures meeting next week. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held June 2, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. A vote is scheduled for release of the IBIS 4.2 specification for GEIA balloting and for BIRD103.1. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-79 1900 Prairie City Rd.
