Meeting agendas are typically distributed seven days before each Open Forum. Minutes are typically distributed within seven days of the corresponding meeting. When calling into the meeting, provide the bridge number and passcode at the automated prompts. If asked by an operator, please request to join the IBIS Open Forum hosted by Michael Mirmak. For international dial-in numbers, please contact Michael Mirmak. NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. --------------------------------MINUTES----------------------------------- INTRODUCTIONS AND MEETING QUORUM No new participants. CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that we have 24 members officially recognized by GEIA. He mentioned that the cutoff is the DAC Summit for organizations to have their memberships renewed before they are dropped from the roster. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the June 23, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes were approved without changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Michael Mirmak reported that there were minor tweaks to the webpage to update dates relative to the summits. John Angulo mentioned that he did not see a link to the IBIS 4.2 specification on the main page. Michael took the AR to fix this. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that the mailing list is working normally, and eda.org is back on-line, so it can be used for mailings and webpage links in the future. Michael Mirmak felt that it would be best to continue using the new links of eda-stds.org and others. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE Lance Wang reported that he posted a new models page this week. He updated it to work better with all web browsers. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS Bob mentioned that the IEEE 1076.1 group has passed the 1076.1 specification in committee and is beginning the balloting process. This relates to the VHDL language. The balloting is open through July. Michael Mirmak mentioned that a second ballot has started as well. Bob Ross mentioned two upcoming conferences as described in previous meeting minutes. The IEEE EMC conference is Aug 14-18 in Portland, Oregon. There may be peripheral interest in IBIS. More information on the conference can be found at the following url: http://www.emc2006.org/ The Electrical Performance of Electronic Packaging (EPEP) conference is October 23-25, 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona. There are sometimes presentations related to IBIS at this conference. More information on the conference can be found at the following url: http://www.epep.org/ EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that GEIA balloting of the IBIS 4.2 specification is running smoothly. As of the last update, there were 15 Yes responses, one with comments that will need to be responded to. The balloting officially began on June 15 and closes on July 21. Randy requested another update from GEIA, but has not received it yet. He took the AR to find out which member companies have not voted yet so that reminder emails could be sent to them from the committee. The ballot does look like it will pass with more than the minimum Yes responses. SUMMITS - DAC DAC will be held July 24-28, 2006 in San Francisco. The Summit is planned for July 25. An agenda will be sent out Tuesday. Ian Dodd is bringing a backup projector, but Bob Ross is still checking on getting a primary projector. Michael Mirmak reminded people to sign up as soon as possible with Syed Huq so that there is an accurate headcount for lunch. John Angulo will check on a screen for the room. It is unlikely that there will be any phone bridge for the meeting. Bob Ross mentioned that there are currently only 20 lunches ordered, so we may need to increase the number. Bob said that we have 12 presentations planned. - Japan Summit Michael Mirmak mentioned that October 31 is planned as the official day of the summit. It will be held in Tokyo at the JEITA offices. There should be a couple of presentations from overseas visitors and most presentations from local participants. The summit is planned from 9:00am - 3:00pm followed by a separate JEITA meeting from 3:00pm-6:00pm. - China Summit The China summit date is finalized as Friday, October 27 in Shanghai. A hotel near People's Park has been chosen, but the reservation has not been confirmed. The per-person price this year is less than last year, so this is helping close the budget. There are two more sponsorships pending. - Other Events No update. Sponsorship opportunities for DAC and the Asian IBIS summits are available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Mike Labonte reported that there have been discussions about changes to the quality level designations. Mike will give a presentation on this at the DAC IBIS summit. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.vhdl.org/pub/ibis/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE No update. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that there was a discussion about ICM linkages to IBIS and how Touchstone files can be linked as well. There needs to be more discussion an how ports in Touchstone files relate to nodes in IBIS. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.vhdl.org/pub/ibis/futures/ The Cookbook version 4 is stored at: http://www.vhdl.org/pub/ibis/cookbook/cookbook-v4.pdf MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Arpad Muranyi reported that there was not a meeting two weeks ago, but there was one last week. There was a presentation on API modeling for SerDes circuits. The presentation can be found in the folder listed below. There needs to be more discussion on how this modeling might be used in IBIS. Arpad also released new version of VHDL library with significant improvements to stability, initialization, etc. He does need to add more documentation, and this work is ongoing. Arpad may work on a minor release to the VHDL-AMS version. The first phase of the library is pretty much complete now. Michael Mirmak mentioned that Arpad might send links to the library to the IEEE 1076.1 group and perhaps others. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.vhdl.org/pub/ibis/macromodel_wip/ IBIS 4.2 PARSER STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that the IBIS 4.2 parser was released recently. Bob Ross thanked Michael Schaeder of Zuken and Michael Mirmak for generating some of the executables as well as Jon Powell for his help in code writing. NEW ISSUES None. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Arpad Muranyi reported that he discovered some mistakes in previous simulations, and he is beginning to conclude that some new techniques will have to be developed to model the modulation effects. Arpad will have a detailed presentation on this at the DAC IBIS summit. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that the latest parser closed a few BUGs related to compilation. There is debate on how to handle a BUG related to Linux compilation, and two separate executables may need to be created. There are 7 remaining BUGs that have not been closed with the latest version. Bob Ross is in discussion with Jon Powell about fixing BUG93. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS No new update. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS summit will be held July 25, 2006 at the DAC Conference. No telephone bridge is currently planned. The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held August 4, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-79 1900 Prairie City Rd.
