NOTE: "AR" = Action Required. --------------------------------MINUTES----------------------------------- INTRODUCTIONS AND MEETING QUORUM Dave Banas from Xilinx introduced himself. He is in charge of improving IBIS model quality and correlating to IBIS and spice models. He has been involved with the IBIS Quality task group. CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that we are up to 33 members in total. Many member payments were received by GEIA in September, but we were not made aware of them until recently. Huawei, Ansoft, and Panasonic are in this group and should be considered valid members since September. We have 5 extra members this year than we budgeted for, so we have extra funding. Also, we added at least one new parser purchaser at the end of the year. We will have a discussion and vote related to these extra funds. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the October 27, 2006 IBIS Summit held in Shanghai, the October 31, 2006 IBIS Summit held in Tokyo, and the November 17, 2006 Open Forum teleconference. Bob Ross requested that all three sets of minutes be updated to show valid GEIA eligibility tracked for Panasonic, Ansoft, and Huawei due to their untracked status as members since September. Also, the voting members attendance list needs to be updated for the last 4 sets of minutes including the October 6, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference minutes. Bob Ross also requested that the Tokyo summit minutes be corrected to show 36 participants from 21 companies. The November 17, 2006 minutes need to be updated to show Huawei/3COM as a separate member from Huawei with non-member status. The following additions will be made to the GEIA Ballot Eligibility lists: October 27, 2006 minutes: Member GEIA Eligible (A = Active) -2 -1 Current Meeting ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ansoft X Huawei X Panasonic X October 31, 2006 minutes: Member GEIA Eligible (A = Active) -2 -1 Current Meeting ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ansoft X Huawei X Panasonic A X X November 17, 2006 minutes: Member GEIA Eligible (A = Active) -2 -1 Current Meeting ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ansoft X Huawei X Panasonic A X X The minutes for all three meetings were approved with the noted changes. WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq has action items to update the poster page. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that the issue with ieee.org accounts bouncing due to IEEE changing their aliasing has been fixed. Bob mentioned that all Cadence and Synopsys e-mail addresses are still continuing to have a group bounce intermittently. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE Lance Wang scanned all the library links over the last two weeks. He found 8 companies that moved links, and he corrected these. There were no new models to add. PRESS UPDATE Bob Ross followed up with Rick Merritt of EETimes about reporting on the Asian IBIS Summit in China. He decided not to do any interviews this year because of time schedules. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS None. EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that he checked the ANSI bulletin for status information on the IBIS 4.2 ANSI standardization process. He did not find any mention of the standard, so he sent an email to GEIA requesting more information. He is waiting for them to look into it further. SUMMITS - DesignCon 2007 We are currently scheduled to hold the DesignCon summit on Thurday, February 1, 2007 from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Cisco is officially sponsoring the event. The draft agreement is approved by IEC. There are minor difficulties with the booth related to waivers of the insurance requirements. Bob Ross has some presentations penciled in already. The first call for papers was sent out a week ago. - DATE Date is April 16-20 with the summit scheduled for Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm. DATE is being held in Nice, France. Ralf Bruening is handling the logistical arrangements again. So far at least two companies will be co-sponsors. There is difficulty in finding a room arrangement so far. Sponsorship opportunities for the DesignCon and DATE summits are available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. Contact the IBIS Board for further details. IBIS QUALITY TASK GROUP Mike Labonte reported that they had a member from Qimonda join in the last phone call. There has been a lot of activity in rewriting the quality specification recently. Lynne Green asked if the group will be updating the quality checklist. Mike said they will get to this eventually. The link to the quality task group checklist is at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ibis/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW TASK GROUP Lynne Green is reviewing a model with LVDS outputs that does not cover the full voltage range. Arpad Muranyi mentioned that it is ok to not model the complete range as long as they cover the the possible ranges of reflections based on the full signal swing voltage range. The group has other models they are reviewing as well. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY MODELING TASK GROUP Arpad Muranyi gave an update that Cadence presented a draft BIRD at the last meeting. The group reviewed the BIRD, focusing on whether it covered including multiple methodologies. They also talked about making a BIRD related to parameter passing into external circuits and models. Task group material can be found at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ibis/macromodel_wip/ AD HOC TASK GROUPS (INTERCONNECT) Michael Mirmak reported that he is planning to hold a meeting before the end of the year to discuss IBIS/ICM linking and Touchstone files. SPENDING PROPOSALS, DISCUSSION AND VOTE Michael Mirmak reported that due to the extra membership payments and parser purchases, there is extra money in the budget to spend that will disappear at the end of the year if not spent. He has calculated about $5,600 in the budget to spend. Proposals to spend the money include web site maintenance and BUG fixes. There are 7 open BUGs, one listed as severe, so we could fund a quick turnaround fixing some of the BUGs. There was concern about not spending the money wisely, and it was asked if there is a way to carry it into next year such as a pre-pay for DesignCon. Syed Huq said it costs about $499 for Dreamweaver software for use in web maintenance. However, Syed really needs to get FTP access to upload files to the GEIA site to take full advantage of using Dreamweaver. Bob Ross has a quote from Atul Agarwal, our previous IBIS 4.0 parser developer, for $5000 to fix all 7 BUGs that are outstanding. Bob mentioned that we can also transfer any money into a prepay account for the China Summit. Lynne Green proposed a vote for invoicing Atul the $5000 for parser development. The vote passed with the following vote tally: Cadence - yes Cisco - yes Green - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Siemens - yes Teraspeed - yes Xilinx - yes Lance Wang asked about a timeline on the parser fixes. Bob Ross said he did not have a schedule arranged, but it should take Atul about 2 months at most once he starts work. Bob Ross proposed a vote on moving the balance of the budget to prepay the China fund in order to zero out our budget for the year. The vote passed with the following vote tally: Cadence - yes Cisco - yes Green - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Siemens - yes Teraspeed - yes Xilinx - yes Michael took the AR to talk with GEIA about these payments. NEW ISSUES Arpad Muranyi asked that we discuss the next meeting date. Michael Mirmak suggested that January 5, 2007 be the next meeting time. This was agreed upon by all. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Arpad Muranyi had no new report. Michael Mirmak requested that Arpad talk with Antonio Gerardi soon to help close this BIRD. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS No update. The latest parser version is 4.2.0. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak plans to release an announcement soon about the new sub-version of the parser created by Keppy Green. There is no solution yet on creating an HP compiled version of the code. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. OPEN ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held January 5, 2007 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-239 1900 Prairie City Rd.
