He has worked with building IBIS models since 1996 and is joining the IBIS committee this year to discuss modeling issues. CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that 2006 closed with 34 members in total. This included a last minute payment from Actel who should be considered a full member for 2006. Four memberships are already paid for 2007 and a parser payment is in the works. There will be a discussion on spending additional income from 2006 later in the meeting. Ericsson has joined in 2007 as a new voting member. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the December 8, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. Bob Ross mentioned that Actel should be added as a voting member on the 2006 minutes set. The minutes were approved with the noted change. WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq has made some roster updates for 2007 as well as updated Huawei on the poster page. He mentioned that he needs to add a DesignCon link to the events page. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported the list is running mostly normal with the same group bounces as seen previously. New spam filters have been added to the administrative portion of the list, and it is being monitored to make sure that no valid emails bounce. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE No update. PRESS UPDATE Bob Ross had no update. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES Bob Ross mentioned that a question was posed recently to the committee regarding posting of a message to the reflector about a new publication. He reminded everyone that the list is not used for advertising. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS None. EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that he received an update from GEIA regarding the status of the ANSI approval of IBIS 4.2. A public review announcement appeared in ANSI Standards Action on 12/22/2006. The comment period for the public review will end 2/5/2007. Bob Ross asked about moving onto IEC standardization. Michael Mirmak thought this was worth looking into. Michael and Randy will work offline on this. SUMMITS - DesignCon 2007 The DesignCon summit is scheduled for Thurday, February 1, 2007 from 8:00am to 5:00pm. It will be hosted at the Hyatt next to the Santa Clara convention center in the Cyprus room. 8:30am will be the start time for presentations. Pre-registration is strongly advised. The agenda is full. There will be no booth this year due to changes in the insurance requirements. DesignCon organizers specified that pre-registration for DesignCon of at least the free option - exhibits only - is necessary. Bob Ross requested that we push back on DesignCon to ignore this requirement. Michael Mirmak reminded people to register with Syed Huq. Ian Dodd offered to loan a spare projector. Bob will followup with Apsim about bringing a projector locally. The fourth announcement will be sent out next week and will not mention the booth. Cisco is officially sponsoring the event. - DATE Date is April 16-20 with the summit scheduled for Friday from 9:00am-2:00pm. DATE is being held in Nice, France. Ralf Bruening is handling the logistical arrangements again. Bob Ross reported that Ralf is still sorting out sponsorship and fees. Ralf is planning a meeting next week to look over these issues. They are looking for more sponsorship due to the expense of the room. Sponsorship opportunities for the DesignCon and DATE summits are available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. Contact the IBIS Board for further details. IBIS QUALITY TASK GROUP Roy Leventhal reported that there was no meeting in the last week, so there is no new update. The group did recently vote in Mike Labonte as the official chair of the task group. The link to the quality task group checklist is at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ibis/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW TASK GROUP No update. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY MODELING TASK GROUP Michael Mirmak reported that the last meeting was December 19, and January 9 is the next meeting. The latest work involved going over a presentation from Todd Westerhoff on terminology. There was a Cadence followup presentation clarifying terminology. Cadence also submitted a draft BIRD that is being discussed. Syed Huq requested getting information on the dial-in info for the January 9 meeting. There will be a presentation at the DesignCon summit about the latest task group work. Task group material can be found at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ibis/macromodel_wip/ AD HOC TASK GROUPS (INTERCONNECT) Michael Mirmak reported that the next meeting is scheduled for January 10. There will be a presentation from Agilent on referencing for S-parameters. The group's major task is to finish up a BIRD linking IBIS and ICM. SPENDING PROPOSALS, DISCUSSION AND VOTE Michael Mirmak reported that the invoice to Atul Agarwal for $5000 is taken care of. At the last meeting, there was a vote to move the balance of the remaining budget from 2006 to the China fund. However, this did not work out due to accounting issues. So, the group must decide on another option for the remaining balance. There is also extra balance due to a last minute 2006 renewal. An adjustment of allocation to GEIA took away some of this extra money. We have $964 left in the budget that must be spent by January 10. Bob Ross presented several options. These were to prepay Atul Agarwal for additional parser work, to buy a backup DLP projector, to prepay a portion of the DesignCon lunch that is usually around $1500-2000, to co-sponsor a European IBIS summit, and to purchase DesignCon items such as brochures, stick memories, shirts, etc. A vote was called to resolve to spend the $964 on prepayment of the DesignCon lunch. If this is not possible, then the money will be spent on purchase of a DLP projector. The vote passed with the following vote tally: Cisco - yes Ericsson - yes Intel - yes LSI Logic - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Teraspeed - yes NEW ISSUES None. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Michael Mirmak proposed that a discussion ensue with Antonio Gerardi either in this forum or in one of the subcommittees. Antonio has prepared two presentations. Michael proposed that Antonio present in this meeting. Bob mentioned that the presentations would need to be sent out ahead of time. We could also use LiveMeeting. Michael took the AR to setup LiveMeeting for the next teleconference meeting and invite Antonio to attend. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS Bob Ross reported that Atul Agarwal will begin work next week on fixing all 7 open BUGs. The beta code should be finished within a month, and final, tested code should be available within two months. The current parser version is 4.2.0. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak mentioned that all 4 BUGs are closed, and version 1.1.2 of the parser is available but has not been announced publicly. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. OPEN ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held January 26, 2007 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. The next IBIS Open Forum Summit will be held at DesignCon on February 1, 2007. There will be no telephone bridge. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-239 1900 Prairie City Rd.
