CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS 3.2, IBIS 4.2, IBIS 5.0, Touchstone 2.0 or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Bob Ross reported that we still have 31 members. We need confirmation on one payment. We will have enough funds to cover our regular expenses. TechAmerica may have mailer problems regarding the invoices, since some have not received invoices. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak called for comments regarding the minutes of the July 9, 2010 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. Mike LaBonte reported for Randy Wolff that the minutes listed Bob Ross as Chair instead of Michael in the Notes section. The July 9 minutes were approved with the noted change. WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported that the events page was updated to add China summits. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Mike LaBonte reported that things had been normal lately until this morning, when a large number of email deliveries to st.com apparently failed. This could be related to the reputation of our SMTP server, but the error messages are too cryptic to be sure of that. Mike will contact someone at STMicroelectronics to investigate this. Bob Ross noted that every sender got a bounce reply back to the sender, and that this was in response to an email sent from ST. There previously was a similar problem with Mentor but that was cleared up. MODEL LIBRARY UPDATE No report. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES Bob Ross asked to add BUG120 to the list. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL ACTIVITIES - DASC No update. The DASC file and e-mail archive may be found at: http://www.dasc.org/ - P1735 Encryption Syed Huq reported that there is a lot of email reflector activity but nothing really new to report. The IEEE Study Group on Encryption web reflector archives are found at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ip-encrypt/hm/ -VHDL-AMS meeting Arpad Muranyi reported that there have been no meetings since our last teleconference. This subcommittee is working on table-driven models. -Conferences Michael Mirmak noted that EPEP will be held in Texas this year. -Press Update None. TECHAMERICA STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that TechAmerica still exists. We are trying to get updates on their financial status. IEC APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Michael Mirmak reported that Randy Wolff has had no success contacting Victor Berman. He will try contacting Stan Krolikoski, the new DASC chair. SUMMIT STATUS -China Summit Planning Bob Ross reported that the current location for the meeting is the Four Points by Sheraton hotel in Shenzhen on Tuesday, November 9. Lance Wang has paid the deposit. A minor issue is who to list for sponsors, considering uncertain payments statuses. There may be vendor tables in the conference room itself. Lance has asked the hotel to provide discount rates for travelers. They offered 700RMB including breakfast and Internet, a good deal. Those interested should contact Lance. -Taiwan Summit Planning Bob reported that it will be held Friday, November 12 at the Sherwood Hotel in Taipei near Intel. The room arrangement is better than the previously considered Westin Hotel. Sigrity will assist with the registration. Steven Wong noted that they can assist. Announcements will be prepared. We have 5 to 7 possible sponsors. This summit is not yet fully funded. Michael Mirmak said announcements should go out no later than the 3rd week of September. Bob asked Michael if he could find good hotels in the area since the Sherwood is expensive. Steven asked if it could be held near Taiwan University. Michael noted that people do not have to stay at the conference hotel. -Japan Summit Planning Bob reported this will be Monday, November 15 at the JEITA headquarters near Tokyo Station. Last year Shoji-san cosigned. Bob is trying to arrange for a new cosigner this year. No lunch will be provided. Steven asked if the same presentations would be given at all locations. Michael Mirmak said we encourage local presentations. We also do not require English. We use different models for China and Japan, and the China model would be used for Taiwan. In China, Lance often helps with translations. English ability may be more prevalent in Taiwan, although Mandarin is the main language there. Time is a limitation. Michael noted that delivery in local languages is fine. Agendas should be out one week in advance, by September 2 for the China summit. Presentations must be submitted to the IBIS board for review. Marketing presentations are strongly discouraged. Lance agreed that the review should help filter that out. Late submissions may be excluded from the printed booklet. Bob had planned on October 12 as the China submission deadline. Ad hoc presentations will not be accepted. Michael added that we should consider a press release since we are expanding our presence in Asia. Bob noted that we usually start announcements in August. We should announce all three in a China announcement next week. This will help companies plan for travel. Sponsorship opportunities for all upcoming IBIS summits are available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. Contact the IBIS Board for further details. IBIS QUALITY TASK GROUP Mike LaBonte reported that they are continuing to study the IEEE Feature Selective Validation specification and the FSV1D software that implements the method. An effort to review the outline of the in-progress IBIS Correlation document has also begun. The next meeting will be August 3. The Quality Task Group checklist and other documentation can be found at: http://www.eda.org/ibis/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW TASK GROUP No update. Michael Mirmak said that those with models to review can contact Lynne Green. Lance Wang added that Lynne did receive a model for review recently. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY MODELING TASK GROUP Arpad Muranyi reported that the group decided to submit Walter's AMI Flow BIRD. A second BIRD is needed to resolve a de-convolution issue. The BIRDs will be submitted after review of the second BIRD and a decision on whether to first merge them. Bob Ross would prefer to merge the two BIRDs. Michael Mirmak noted that fewer links between BIRDs is better than having to approve one conditionally. Task group material can be found at: http://www.eda-stds.org/ibis/macromodel_wip/ INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP Michael Mirmak reported that the group continues to meet weekly on Wednesdays at 09:00 PT. They will hammer out a skeleton document next week for the Model Connection Protocol, which will include a number of features. Steven Wong asked who can be in the ad hoc group. Michael said anyone who has an interest can join. Bob considers the group to be permanent, not ad hoc, having existed for years. Task group material can be found at: http://www.eda.org/ibis/adhoc/interconnect/ NEW ISSUES Michael Mirmak proposed the creation of permanent email addresses for summits and model review. TSIRD2.1 – BINARY FORMAT SUPPORT This topic was recently discussed in the Interconnect task group. The new example is difficult to read without additional spaces. It was decided to schedule this for a vote at the next Open Forum meeting. Bob Ross noted that the posted documents should include the Word documents since that format is what is used in the specification. TSCHK2 BUG STATUS No BUGs to report. Michael Mirmak noted that the source code is available for purchase. IBISCHK5 BUG STATUS Bob Ross described the new bug, BUG120, proposing that unused [Model Selector]s should be reported. This is categorized as a low priority enhancement, to become a CAUTION check in a future release. Lance Wang asked about the CAUTION category and Bob explained that they are lower level tests. Mike LaBonte noted that the [Model]s referenced by the [Model Selector]s would be flagged as unused if not referenced any other way. IBISCHK5 PROJECT Bob Ross reported that the developer is looking at BUG118 and BUG119. Warnings previously reported are no longer being reported beginning in ibischk version 4.2.1. Bob believes there may be some orphaned code. Release of version 5.0.4 is expected in 3 weeks. It will take a few weeks to evaluate. There are 12 open BUGs currently. 9 BUGs (up to BUG114) are being fixed with a new parser development project. There are 5 SEVERE bugs after BUG114. PULLUP/PULLDOWN RESISTOR DETECTION PROPOSAL Michael Mirmak noted that Greg Edlund was unable to attend the meeting but would have a BIRD ready for review by the next teleconference. IBIS-ISS – STATUS Michael Mirmak reported that the specification is updated each week. It includes passive elements and some dependent sources and is on the IBIS website. It will be considered by the ATM group before submission to the Open Forum. There are issues like inconsistencies in how HSPICE line continuations are described. Bob Ross said we would have to decide whether rare forms such as backslash should become illegal in ISS or merely not recommended. Michael said it would remain so as to not invalidate existing models, but the usage rules need to be clarified. Arpad Muranyi asked if this would be an independent specification. Michael said that is open for debate. It could be a BIRD, although it was initially expected to be separate. Bob and Arpad preferred that it be a separate document. Mike LaBonte will upload revision 0.5 of the specification to the ibis-iss_wip page. The work in progress document can be found in the following directory: http://www.eda.org/ibis/ibis-iss_wip/ NEW ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held August 20, 2010 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM US Pacific Standard Time. A vote is scheduled for TSIRD2.1. ======================================================================== NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation 1900 Prairie City Rd., FM5-239 Folsom, CA 95630 VICE CHAIR: Lance Wang (978) 633-3388 lwang@iometh.com President / CEO, IO Methodology, Inc.
