Hi Michael:

The issue of modeling a buffer with data stream pre-emphasis has been
raised before with respect to modeling the latest SCSI buffers. It is
possible to model a buffer with data stream dependent pre-emphasis, although
there are limitations and caveats. For the details, refer to several
presentations at the June IBIS summit.

then go to the readme for a list of the presentation. I believe you want the
ones from Larry Barnes, Hegazy and Bob Ross.

Subject: IBIS techniques for Pre-emphasis ?

All,

A lot of buffer designs are beginning to include pre-emphasis to enhance the
strength of drivers for certain types of data pattern (a notable older
example is EIA/RS-485). [Driver Schedule] and [Submodel] keyword sections
can be used to add "boosts" to driven signals, but not necessarily in any
way related to a particular signal pattern.

At present, are there any known techniques for including pre-emphasis in
IBIS buffers? If not, are there plans to do so in IBIS 4.x/IBIS-X?

Thanks!
