Thank you for your interest in IBIS 4.1. You raise several important
issues.
 
1) As you pointed out, IBIS 4.1 die pads are treated like any other
internal node: they are declared under [Node Declarations] and are
mapped to ports through [Circuit Call].

Use the keyword CIRCUITCALL in the [Pin] list to link a particular pin
to the [Circuit Call] declarations later in the file. [Circuit Call]
associates, where appropriate, particular pins with buffer ports and
nodes through the Signal_pin and Port_map subparameters.
 
2) Note that [Circuit Call] may make both explicit and implicit
connections. If the node listed under [Circuit Call] Port_map matches a
pin name from the [Pin] list, the node is assumed to be the pad of the
associated buffer (see the [Circuit Call] Model_C example on page 113 of
the IBIS 4.1 specification). All [Circuit Call]s for a [Component]
should be read in before implicit associations are assumed, as some
[Circuit Call] declarations may impact others (for example, shared power
supply connections).
 
Finally, the IBIS Open Forum is aware that some applications may demand
identification of analog ports and nodes as distinct from digital ports
and nodes. Several options are being discussed in the IBIS Futures
Committee and an appropriate solution will likely be included in IBIS
4.2.

Hi all,

When I use this feature in Component, I found if an analog I/O port
mapped to an explicit die pad, it is no other statement to map this
explicit die pad to a pin listed under [Pin] keyword. Furthermore, I do
not know which port in [External Circuit] is an analog I/O port, since
analog port in [External Circuit] has not reserved keyword names to
indicate its character. Although keyword "Signal_pin" and
"Diff_signal_pins" give a mapping from an analog I/O port to a pin,
which port is the right I/O port ?? So from my understand, I can not
construct a connection between an analog I/O port within [External
Circuit] and a pin listed under [Pin] keyword if using explicit die pad.
Could anybody give me some explanations or advices ?
