CALL FOR PATENTS Michael Mirmak called for any patents or pending patents related to the IBIS Version 3.2, 4.0, 4.1, or ICM 1.1 specifications. No patents were declared. MEMBERSHIP UPDATE AND TREASURER'S REPORT Michael Mirmak reported that we will not be receiving final financial data on 2005 until early March. We are continuing to send out invoices and receive renewals. REVIEW OF MINUTES AND ARS Michael Mirmak reviewed the minutes of the January 27, 2006 IBIS Open Forum teleconference. The minutes were approved without changes. PRESS AND WEB PAGE UPDATES Syed Huq reported updating Toshiba, TI and Intel on the roster list. He also updated the logos and events pages. The events page now shows events through DesignCon 2007. Bob Ross requested that we go through the roster list and contact all non-member companies to see if they still want to be on the list. Bob and Syed took the AR for this. MAILING LIST ADMINISTRATION Bob Ross reported that everything is running normally. Michael Mirmak reiterated a policy statement that the reflectors are available for discussing technical issues, and we don't wish to entertain discussions of tools or distribute announcements on tools updates or marketing plugs. NEW MODELS AVAILABLE, LIBRARY UPDATE No update. Bob Ross mentioned that AMD and Spansion split, so some models may need to be searched for on the Spansion site. We may need to update the library with a new link. MISCELLANY/ANNOUNCEMENTS None. OPENS FOR NEW ISSUES None. INTERNATIONAL/EXTERNAL PROGRESS Bob Ross had no new report on the TC47 committee. Bob met the local rep of the TC93 committee at DesignCon. He mentioned that IBIS would be handled by the TC93 committee if the standard goes international. No update on the TC12 committee was given. Bob mentioned that the call for papers went out for the Electrical Performance of Electronic Packaging meeting (EPEP). EPEP will be held October 23-25, 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Also, the 10th IEEE workshop on Signal Propagation on Interconnects (SPI) is May 9-12 in Berlin, Germany. The IEEE EMC Symposium will be held in Portland, Oregon August 14-18. These meetings sometimes address IBIS modeling topics. For more information on these meetings, look at the following links: EPEP: http://www.epep.org SPI: http://www.spi.uni-hannover.de/ EMC2006: http://www.emc2006.org/ Michael Mirmak asked if TC93 is the right committee in IEC for handling IBIS. If it is, we should discuss renewal of IBIS 3.2 and handling of IBIS 4.2 with this committee. EIA/ANSI APPROVAL ACTIVITIES Randy Wolff reported that he has no new update on ANSI approval of the ICM 1.1 specification. He last heard that the close date for ANSI review is June 9, 2006. Michael Mirmak asked about opening a project with GEIA to prepare for IBIS 4.2 standardization. Randy took the AR to get this process started as well as find out more about the ANSI standardization of ICM 1.1. SUMMITS - DesignCon Michael Mirmak gave a summary of the DesignCon IBIS Summit. There were 38 attendees representing 23 organizations. There were clusters of subject areas and very good presentations overall. Topics included power delivery effects related to SSO, macro modeling discussions, C_comp modeling, and IBIS 4.1 modeling examples. Discussions went right up until 5:00pm. - DATE The summit will be Friday, March 10, 2006 in Munich, Germany. Registration is being handled by Ralf Bruening. Bob Ross mentioned that anyone attending needs to register for DATE when attending the IBIS Summit meeting. There are about 4 presentations so far. Arpad Muranyi plans to attend and present on the macro model library. He will also show his "Reactive Load" presentation if time allows. 3 people from JEITA are attending and presenting. Eckhard Lenski thinks that 4 or 5 people from Siemens will attend. He may present a paper as well. - Summits in Asia Michael Mirmak said that the direction is a Q306 or Q406 event to give more time for handling of IBIS 4.2 finalization and planning of upcoming summits in the US. Bob Ross mentioned that this could correspond with the time slot of DesignCon East since this event was canceled. Sponsorship opportunities for DATE are still available, with sponsors receiving free mentions in the minutes, agenda, and other announcements. IBIS QUALITY COMMITTEE Mike Labonte reported that he was pleased that Moshiul Haque of Micron attended the last meeting and had good feedback on using the Quality Checklist. Mike Labonte is unable to commit to the chairmanship at this time, so currently the committee will be left with an acting chair. The link to the quality committee checklist is at: http://www.ibis-information.org/quality_wip/ IBIS MODEL REVIEW COMMITTEE Lynne Green had one model to review in the last two months. One person on the reflector was asking many questions about model issues. Lynne mentioned that requests such as this should be directed to the Modeling Committee for help. She mentioned that each member is familiar with a specific EDA tool, so the models can be reviewed with specific tools in mind. FUTURES AND COOKBOOK COMMITTEES Michael Mirmak reported that both committees have been meeting every Thursday. At the last meeting, members discussed a simplified linking proposal between IBIS and ICM. This is a one-to-one pad to pin connection. Lynne Green is working on updates to the Cookbook. Bob requested that we check into progress on this. Recent committee material is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/futures/ The Cookbook version 4 is stored at: http://www.ibis-information.org/ibis/cookbook/cookbook-v4.pdf MACROMODELING LIBRARY COMMITTEE Arpad Muranyi reported that he presented the library at the DesignCon Summit. He feels that the majority of the work is done now. Committee material can be found at the following url: http://www.ibis-information.org/macromodel_wip/ IBIS 4.2 DRAFT REVIEW SCHEDULE Michael Mirmak reported that all BIRDs for IBIS 4.2 are fairly small changes. Three technical changes are BIRD93.1 extending model and signal name lengths, BIRD100.2 adding Analog support for AMS models and BIRD102 that will extend file length limits. Bob Ross has put together a draft IBIS 4.2 specification. Michael stated that we will begin review of the document for three meetings and then put it up for a vote. So, the earliest we can vote on the specification is May 12 and the latest will be June 2. NEW ADMINISTRATIVE ISSUES None. BIRD97.2: GATE MODULATION EFFECT Arpad Muranyi reported no update. He plans to discuss the BIRD with Katja Koller and Antonio Girardi at the DATE Summit. BIRD98: GATE MODULATION EFFECT (TABLE FORMAT) See BIRD97.2 for discussion related to BIRD98. BIRD102: FILE NAME LIMIT EXTENSION Michael Mirmak summarized the BIRD. He had received several requests from companies for extending the limit on file names to greater than 20 characters. This BIRD will extend the limit to 40 characters plus the extension. Bob Ross mentioned that this BIRD also applies to EBD and PKG files, and he felt that it should be mentioned somewhere in the BIRD under background information. Michael took the AR to add this text to the BIRD. There was a call for vote on approval of the BIRD text for inclusion in the next version of the IBIS specification with a one sentence addition to the background information as mentioned above. The vote passed with the following vote tally: Cisco - yes Intel - yes Mentor - yes Micron - yes Siemens - yes Teraspeed - yes IBISCHK4 BUG STATUS There are 9 BUGs pending. Michael Mirmak mentioned that there was discussion in the Futures group on addressing some of these as a minor parser update. Some of the BUGs will have to be fixed during a major parser update for IBIS 5.0. ICMCHK1 BUG STATUS Michael Mirmak mentioned that there is no schedule for updating the parser currently. NEW TECHNICAL ISSUES None. NEXT MEETING The next IBIS Summit will be held March 10, 2006 at DATE 2006. No telephone bridge is available. The next IBIS Open Forum teleconference will be held March 10, 2006 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM US Pacific Time. ============================================================================ NOTES IBIS CHAIR: Michael Mirmak (916) 356-4261, Fax: (916) 377-3788 michael.mirmak@intel.com Server Platform Technical Marketing Engineer, Intel Corporation FM5-79 1900 Prairie City Rd.
