============================================================================== IBIS INTERCONNECT TASK GROUP Mailing list: ibis-interconnect@freelists.org ============================================================================== Attendees from September 17, 2025 Meeting (* means attended at least using audio) ANSYS Curtis Clark, Wei-hsing Huang, Juliano Mologni Arista Networks Jim Antonellis Broadcom James Church Chipletz Stephen Newberry* Intel Corp. Michael Mirmak*, Xiaoning Ye Keysight Technologies Ming Yan Marvell Steve Parker MathWorks Walter Katz* Micron Technology Justin Butterfield Siemens EDA Weston Beal*, Arpad Muranyi*, Randy Wolff* Simberian Yuriy Shlepnev ST Microelectronics Aurora Sanna Synopsys Ted Mido, Edna Moreno University of Illinois Jose Schutt-Aine Michael Mirmak convened the meeting. No patents were declared. No previous minutes were reviewed. The team reviewed draft 18 of the Port Mapping proposal, focusing on the "clean" copy and change suggested by Walter Katz. This change was the removal of a single sentence regarding multiple references. Arpad Muranyi suggested that other changes would likely be "mostly editorial". Michael noted that IBIS 8.0 work was concluding in the Editorial Task Group, so resources would become more available shortly to focus on a Touchstone 3.0 document, including Port Mapping. Arpad suggested that the removed sentence could be misread. What does it mean to need more than one reference? This should actually refer to cases where the reference terminal is connected to more than one pin, not that there is more than one reference for a given port. Michael asked whether more Bus_Label Reference examples were needed. He showed a brief slide presentation which summarized the Port Mapping labels, plus grouped the examples in the current document. Weston Beal suggested that "Side", like "Diff_port", is also used for visualization (as in schematic grouping). Walter added that it would be useful for cables; it would not be used for connectivity. On Diff_port, Walter added that we identify these ports and generate different transfer functions for looking at quality of the channel (i.e., using checker software); Weston suggested that Diff_port was also descriptive. Arpad reminded the team that IBIS and EMD only support reference through N+1 syntax, but Touchstone under this Port Mapping proposal would support arbitrary referencing. He asked whether the examples and language supporting arbitrary referencing should be kept or removed. The team generally agreed to keep them, and Arpad added that the team should ensure the examples are updated when IBIS is updated to expand its referencing support. Michael noted that this will require some version pointers and cross-checking. Walter noted that the Symbol_top, _bottom, _left, and _right parameters are to be used with schematic symbol generation. Example 2 would be used to generate a schematic symbol, and an image for this would be useful in the draft. Michael agreed to create and add such a drawing. [AR] This will show base or Logical base within in a rectangle around a BJT. The team agreed that more Symbol_ instances were needed, and at Randy Wolff's suggestion, edited Example 7 to show EBD forking of connections to DRAMs. Randy added that Example 7 needs a graphic as well. Michael will add one to the draft. [AR] Michael will send out a draft 19 after the two new figures are added. [AR] Arpad moved to adjourn; Walter seconded. The meeting adjourned without objection.
