I looked through a particular HSPICE circuit in which I thought I was using .measure outputs as inputs to controlled source element equations. Arpad is right, I was wrong. The circuit simulates for the better part of a day, but not because it is trying to adjust to it's own measurements. That can't be done. As far as I know there is no way in HSPICE to use the results of a .measure statement as input to any other element, because HSPICE does things in two passes. 1) simulate, 2) process the .measure statements.
