Syed,
Let me clarify my understanding:
The IBIS Open Forum did not think that it was appropriate for them to
attempt to raise funds
and directly employ a contractor to update or replace the s2ibis utility.
I don't think this is incompatible with the Open Forum being supportive of
other groups,
commercial and non-commercial doing the same.
I had to opt out of the Open Forum while this was going on, so please
correct me if I got the
wrong impression

I absolutely disagree with the comment:

This implies that in order to get support from the IBIS open forum, the
Open-source group needs to develop a tool were no commercial tool vendor
have ventured before. That does not make any sense.
