HSPICE has extended controlled source syntax, as have several of the other SPICE "flavors". The lack of SPICE standards means these extensions are not portable among the various flavors. Worse yet, parameters for controlled sources can have different meanings in different flavors. Since SPICE 3f5 is the lowest common denominator, it is a potential candidate for any macromodeling extensions. This is also why SPICE 3f5 is called out explicitly in IBIS 4.1. Sigh.... - Lynne PS: I shortened the topic line to remove the "hurting" part. -----Original Message----- From: owner-ibis@eda.org [mailto:owner-ibis@eda.org] On Behalf Of Syed Huq Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 3:31 PM To: Arpad Muranyi Cc: ibis Subject: RE: [IBIS] *-AMS modeling and hurting companies? If we don't solve this "(or equivalents)", then the IBIS committee would be endorsing a commercial tool (HSPICE in this case) and I am not sure we can do that. So, I agree, it will be challenging to make *ALL* versions of SPICE elements a 'standard'. We have other bigger problems to solve that make SPICE a standard. - Syed On Mon, 2005-04-04 at 15:20, Muranyi, Arpad wrote: > Syed, > > Notice I said "(or equivalents)"... > But you are right, this will probably > be a major issue to work out. > > Arpad > ====================================== > > -----Original Message----- > From: Syed Huq [mailto:shuq@cisco.com] > Sent: Monday, April 04, 2005 3:17 PM > To: Muranyi, Arpad > Cc: ibis > Subject: RE: [IBIS] *-AMS modeling and hurting companies? > > We talk of HSPICE as if it is a non-commercial tool.
