IBIS captures only the behavior of the buffer.  Since the magnitude of the ground (and power) bounce depends on the board, it is not = part of the IBIS model.

 

There have been discussions of ways to address model response to varying Vcc-Gnd-Vee voltages.  You might want to check the BIRDs and summit papers on the IBIS web site for further information.

I have one more doubt on rising/falling waveforms.I do not know much on gro= und bounce.But, whats the main reason for capturing v-t data with voltage source connected to ground in case of rising and vice-versa.

I saw this rising/falling  mismatch behaviour in pci buffers.

IBIS 4.x and 5.x require all V-t tables to have the same "reference" time (same clock edge).  As Arpad noted, the same end time is not required in the tables.

Hello all,

I do have one question VT data.
For example if I have an ibis model where [rising] data with voltage source connected to VDDS is a fast one.But the one which is  connected to gro= und is slow rising.

Say ,rising with vdds has 3ns and rising with ground connetced 10ns.

Is this normal scenario or is it mandatory to have approximately same V-T e= nd point for both rising/falling.

3 options:

1. Rgnd or Rpower keywords are pure resistors connected from pin to power or ground.

2. Sometimes the termination is in the Power clamp and ground clamp curves. In this case you should look at the cu= rves with an IBIS viewer in case that the current from 0 to Vcc isn’t 0 (o= r something like x.xe-9) you have a termination. Sometimes you can see a linear line in those curve which indicate a resistive load.

3. for IO models with On Die Terminati= on (ODT) – you will have a keyword Add Submodel which will indicate anot= her submodel. In this case the power clamp and ground calmp will show 0 current from 0 to vcc and the termination will be in the curves that are in the submodel.

If the buffer is designed such that it can just meet this requirement in min (slow) corner. The problem that I am facing is that I cannot represent all of typ/min/max transitions within this window of 5ns because of variations in buffer delay across corners. Additionally to question 1, The AMI simulator wi= ll not use the traditional SPICE algorithms. It should be new to your SPICE simula= tor that you already have.

1)  As far as I know there are several vend= ors who support IBIS-AMI,

    including my employer, Mentor.  I w= ill let the Synopsys people

    answer your question about HS= PICE specifically.

2)  To my knowledge there is no Cookbook on IBIS-AMI available yet.

    However, you can browse throu= gh the presentations on the topic

    on the IBIS web page and get = some ideas from them.

3)  A full fledged .IBS file alone is not g= oing to help you much

    because there is really not m= uch in the .IBS file other than a

    pointer to the AMI DLL and its parameter file (.ami).  What you

    need is a good example (i.e. a working DLL) with an appropriate

    parameter file (.ami) and a simulator that can run them.

(1) Are AMI constructs supported by Hspice or any other simulator?

(2) Is there any IBIS cookbook style document wh= ich describes how to do

the modeling?

(3) A full-fledged IBIS (*.ibs) file with the pr= oposed AMI constructs

would really help my understanding.
