I guess it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish.  Are you trying to verify the timing of a system (prop del= ay of the part for instance) or the signal integrity of a net.  But IBIS = does not allow you to do a complete simulation of an inverter.  The IBIS mo= del contains no prop delay.  How are you going to cascade the IBIS input a= nd output models?

I agree with your statement=A0that=A0there is no description of the lo= gic function in IBIS model. Then, if=A0I just want to compare the IBIS simu= lation result of a complete inverter with its PSPICE simulation result, do = I=A0need to simulate the output=A0model only=A0or=A0cascade the IBIS input= =A0model with the output model?=A0It seems that the cascading way will be c= loser to the PSPICE result, but I am not sure. Hi Guys,

 

I am trying to generate IBI= S using ELDO with S2IBIS3 v1.1. After adding COMPNET and COMPMOD options in s2i fil= e as well as COMPAT in netlist, it made possible to run  with eldo.

 

But it is not generating .s= pi file for ramp and gives following error:

I connect the inverter with a high value resistor and varying the rise/fall time of the input pulse. In my expectation, as the rise/fall time increases and other pulse values unchanged, the difference between the two models in rise/fall time should be smaller.However the result shows opposite. And this result is got by only taking the IBIS output buffer. Thus, I doubt whether there are something wrong with my circuit connection or anything else. I agree with your statement that there is no description of the logic funct= ion in IBIS model. Then, if I just want to compare the IBIS simulation resu= lt of a complete inverter with its PSPICE simulation result, do I need to s= imulate the output model only or cascade the IBIS input model with the outp= ut model? It seems that the cascading way will be closer to the PSPICE resu= lt, but I am not sure. I just directly treat the output signal of the input= model as the input signal of the output model.

Most of the ECL drivers I have seen are open emitter drivers not open collector. A few I have seen emulate the ECL levels using more conventional topologies but limit the swing of the output to ECL levels. I am unfamiliar with ECL levels that are supposed to swing to what I assume is your supply rail of 3.3V. Most ECL is terminated with a 50 Ohm load to Vcc - 2V or 1.3V for the case of Vcc = 3.3V. I have a few queries rela= ted to=20 it.

 

1.  What is "Cpd" paramet= er in=20 IBIS 5.0 EMI component level description.
