Muniswar,

According to the spec it is required, but as you
discovered, the parser doesn't flag it.

I know in this day of age with low voltage swing
buffers this doesn't always makes sense, so I
usually recommend to people to make the I-V curves
based on the normal voltage swing conditions, not
the supply conditions, and then add a point on
each end of the I-V table by hand at -Vcc and 2*Vcc.

So if you have a buffer with a 1.5 V supply but its
signaling goes between 0.5 and 1.0 V, I would say
putting meaningful data in the I-V table in the
range of 0.0 to 1.5 V would be sufficient. After
that just add two points at -1.5 V and 3.0 V.

I hope this helps,

Arpad

Subject: [IBIS] IV tables Voltage range

Hi,
Is it compulsory to have the IV table ranging from -VDD to 2*VDD?
I have got a model with range -0.5*VDD to 1.5*VDD. Is it a quality
issue?
IBIS golden parser did not give any error/warning.

For example

[Voltage Range] 2.5 NA NA

[Pullup Reference] 2.5 NA NA

[Pulldown Reference] 0.0 NA NA

[POWER Clamp Reference] 2.5 NA NA

[GND Clamp Reference] 0.0 NA NA

Is it compulsory for POWER clamp and ground clamp to be in range -2.5 to
5.0

I have got a model from range -1.25 to 3.75. Is it a quality issue.

Thanks,
Muniswar
